Given the way CT is shaping the squad he must be staying on as the manager or someone within the club (West) with become first team coach with Turner overseeing. I can't see anyone coming in from outside the club.

Contractual requirement for retained lists to be finalised this week.

At Gillingham the chairman is doing it as he's just sacked his manager.

Hope this helps, although obviously not as much fun as jumping to conclusions.

even if a new manager came in turner has saddled him with a load of dross and removed promising players.

a new manager would have a strikeforce of larkin, bjornsson, boyd, behan and greulich, a central midfield of sweeney, humps and gamble, and a centre half thats slower than me.

f***ed however you look at it.

Surely "F***ed however you look at it, is a bit pessimistic, we need to see who he bringing in.

Fredriksen seemed decent early doors last season maybe he will flourish.

I'm not totally disagreeing with you, I'm still in the Turner out camp and releasing Rowell beggars belief, I'm just going to wait and see who comes in.

Mind you might bookmark this page so around December I can put it back to the top to say your "F***ed however you look at it" statement was in fact right all along.

I wont be making any judgements until we see who comes in!

We need a:

Left back - with experience
A creative central midfielder
Quick pacy winger
And a striker who has pace and will chase down lost causes and score goals (O'donovan type player).

If we get these then we will soon forget about the released players even though i dont see any shocks in the list of released players to be honest!!

We stayed up by the skin of our teeth..............so it can't get much worse.
If we're saddled with Turner again then that's the decision of the people who are entitled to make that decision.
The rest of us will make our decisions based on that and the quality of any new blood.

At this moment in time I am not optimistic about the new season as I think another flirtation with the trapdoor is on the cards, but you never know............... confised

As someone who doesn't attend reserve games, I think that Rowell has flattered to decieve when given his chance.

Ok, maybe he could have been given more of a chance, but we have been fighting relegation for the past 3 seasons. Is it the time to be taking such risks?

What's to say the wages saved by releasing these players (many of whom wouldn't get near the starting line-up) might not be used for a quality midfielder and a left back. It may turn out to be a good move for all we know.

It's a shame we haven't been in more comfortable positions to be able to try the released players out but there you go.

Why?

Do you know what the youth players are like? They might be much better than Rowell.

The youth policy gets slated, 4 youths are given a chance and it's still slated.

I don't get it sctatchinghead

Trouble is that no youth player has been given an opportunity since Neale Cooper's days.

There's 4 being offered the opportunity now though. Let's hope they are given the chance.

I dont think we can make a judgement on fringe players as they could play well in reserve games but we awful in training and have bad attitudes or anything. I dont see releasing Rowell as anything major and totally expected it.

As for releasing rowell being a statement saying "we dont beleive in youth policy" is rubbish as we have given contracts to 4 youth players. surely this shows we are looking to give youngsters a chance and if like Rowell they dont take it then they will also get released?!

How many 1st team starts or substitute appearances was Rowell given his chance in then?

In fact how many 1st or 2nd year professionals has the club given a 1st team run to in the past 2 seasons?

Rowell imo, is a class act and has been totally mismanaged at Pools. He will get snapped up in a flash.
Why release someone with such talent and potential and give 4 other, even less tried and tested youngsters, professional contracts?

Building for the future? Then why release Rowell?
No money for signings? Then why release Rowell?

It does not make the least bit sense.
But thats what we have had to get used to as Hartlepool supporters.

In this time of coalition Govt maybe Ken should consider a Turner/Chip coalition management team (and no the word coalition is not a euphemism). What portfolio should they each take on?

a ahem 'reliable source' at the club once informed me not so long back that rowell is viewed from within the club as having the talent, but isnt really bothered-treats football as nothing more than a job,and lacks the desire and hunger to make it.
thsi is the reason he has been given the boot-very diaspointed if its close to the truth,as before i heard this I too had high hopes for the kid.
some people are born with football in their blood and some arent i guess-us fans have the passion,it doesnt mean every player is though-sadly.

sounds difficult to believe that one - if it wasn't in him why did he come to a football club in the first place? Sounds like the person inside the club making excuses as to why they were going to get shot of him!!!
