After a lot of careful thought I've decided that the outcome of today's disciplinary panel is more important than the outcome of the election. Do you agree?

To "get off" with something you must've committed an offence in the first place. Pools only defence can be they didn't commit an offence as they where unable to ascertain the correct number of bookings.. You can't expect your average footballer to be able to count up to ten. bbolt

It is all down to the referee in my opinion. If, as suggested, he didn't mention a yellow card for Liddle in his report, then the yellow card didn't exist at the time.
On the other hand........................

We did commit an offence, we aren't arguing that Liddle was entitled to play. I' m guessing our defence is," Sorry, it was a cock-up, maybe partly the ref and League's fault too. It was an offence but not a planned bit of cheating so could we get off with smallish punishment please? Oh and by the way if you take lots of points off us and we go down we'll get some decent lawyers to make this run on right through the summer and make your lives a nightmare."

The last bit worked for Cheaterfield a few years back and they were blatant cheats and fraudsters.

Fair point Mr Derwent but if the card wasn't in the report I don't think we'd have got this far. I thought the only mistake on the League's side was that the confusion about the booking wasn't cleared up earlier by the website. Hope I'm wrong though because a mistake in the report would surely do the job.

Aye...........Bayern Munich are going to the Arbitrary court for sport over the three match ban for Ribery, as with the ban he'll miss the champions league final.
It's about time somebody made a similar stand against the " we can't be wrong or challenged" attitude of our football authorities.
This " it is ultimately the club and player's responsibilty to effect the punishment without notification" bollicks doesn't wash with me. Liddle is an employee of a company owned by IOR. Since when was it an employees responsibility to suspend himself???

I can sympathise to an extent about clubs' individual predicaments, but surely this would be a can of worms too far - a banned player is a banned player and he shouldn't have been out there against Brighton.
What weakens Pools' case is the fact that 5 other clubs all realised their own situation that very same weekend.

Did the other clubs get notification from the FA before their Easter Monday game?

Did the other clubs get a report from the referee on the Saturday confirming that their player had been booked that day?

Was the information on the Football League's own website correct with regards the number of bookings the other clubs players had before the Easter Saturday game?

Does Richie Humphreys play for any of the other clubs?
