Just been eyeing up flights to Gatwick and, if a pay cheque arrives when it should, a trip to Brentford looks possible. Anybody know that area of London well enough to know how long it actually takes to get from Gatwick to Griifin Park? I need to exorcise the ghost of that dodgy day a few years back.

Train from Gatwick Airport to Clapham Junction.

Train from Clapham Junction to Brentford.

Duration: 0h57m.

5-10 minute walk to ground from station.

Hope that helps.

Heathrow is within spitting distance of Griffin Park if you're able to get flights there.

Can't get to Heathrow at a sane price but sleazyjet get me to Gatwick and back for less than a train ticket would have been from Newcastle.

Thanks for those times PoK but are they likely to be right in real life? If they are I can probably get back in time, if they're wrong by half an hour I'd have a problem.

If you believe the hysteria on here and in the press about the state of the railways then there is no chance of you arriving at your destination within 3 hours of the said time.

In reality, there is a very high chance of your trains being punctual and you'll be fine.

Don't mention it, Mr. Toulouse.

You might have to give or take 10 minutes, I think, but otherwise I think they'd be OK.

Gatwick's easy from Brentford - done it many times. I'm on the 19:50 flight and I reckon I'll have time for a couple of pints after the game before I catch the train back to the airport (via Clapham as PoK says). The unknown unknown is the length of time to clear security, but the last couple of times I've been through on a Saturday night its only taken 5/10mins.

BTW, the pub upstairs in Gatwick Village is half the price of the Bridge pub in departures, and the beer is much better too.

Thanks for that lot everybody. Looks like it is alright providing the money turns up in time to sort the tickets out. This would have been my first Pools free season for over four decades so I'll be well chuffed if I get there.

Might need to create a nice lilac or tricolor Toulouse Poolies flag for the occassion, just hope it isn't going to be crucial match.
