Chris Turner admitted he felt let down by his players after seeing them beaten 2-0 by struggling Wycombe Wanderers at Adams Park.

After picking up six points over the Easter weekend with wins over Leyton Orient and Brighton, Pools were poor and paid for their lacklustre display.

"We never really got going this afternoon," he told us.

"It just astounds me that they can put in performances like they did over last weekend and then today just not show the energy or the drive.

"There is no doubt that Wycombe were the better team and deserved to beat us today.

"It was the kind of game where you have to roll your sleeves up, go in where it hurts and really battle for everything but it just felt like some of the players were out on their feet.

"We have two home games which we need to go and try to win now - I'm confident we can do that because we need to pick ourselves up."
