The allegation of the WUO seems to be coming from several different places so it seems genuine. obviously we've no idea of the details so must tread a bit carefully with statements but either way its very saddening and disingenuous if Pools are winding up a small non league club.

That's the thing though innit, it doesn't sound like anything at the moment cos surely it'd be premature to pass judgement until the full facts are known.

If, for example, they'd been systematically ripping off HUFC and just raising their finger when asked to pay money they owed whose side would you be on?

How about if it was the difference between Pools signing a player who helped save them from relegation and not being able to afford that player cos Billingham Town were taking the piss out of them?

Surely though if it's come to a winding up petition then HUFC must make some kind of statement to let people know what it is all about? Any silence on the matter might just imply that Pools could be in the wrong.

In the summer there was a thing about pools having laid their pitch on the premise that they paid it back over a set amount of time, then the chairman left and the agreement was pushed aside... on this basis, Pools are owed money by Billingham Town who have no intention of paying it back.

that still doesn't suggest what the actual facts are,it just suggests that Pools don't want loads of Chinese whispers going round

Trying to find out more is currently difficult. The Winding Up Petition or Order is supposed to go in the London Gazette (not there yet) but even when it does, all it tells you is the bald fact that one organisation has applied to have the company in question wound up, and when and where the hearing is to be. There is no mention of how much might be owed, what for, etc. A hearing would probably be due in about 2-3 weeks. Pools simply cannot afford to say nothing for 2-3 weeks, already they're being painted as the big bad bully picking on the poor defenceless kid, whether that is true or not the longer they go without filling in the details the worse it will be.

I can't see how Pools can come out of this looking good, whether they are legally in the right or not. It's now up to the club to prove otherwise.

The reaction against the big club would be venomous in my opinion.
I can just see Jeff Stelling's reaction if Pools were in a similar issue with a big club..............he would galvanise the rest of football.
This is not seen as a who is right or who is wrong issue like, for example, yer average bounder being evicted for not paying his rent.
This is seen as bullying by a much bigger club and as it's football and being judged by football fans, who's right and who's wrong is secondary.
We shall see.

The whole of local football will turn on Pools here - the publicity will simply not be worth any money owed (I'm led to believ around 70 grand)

There is an ulterior motive on there in my opinion, and my solution would be for Pools to walk away from Bedford Terrace and give BTFC the time to pay any outstanding monies

Not even in the same ballpark though Mr Parmo. Like I've said, if when the facts come out it turns out Pools are being bullies, acting like twats etc then I'll be towards the front of the queue to say so. It's just that on the info we all have up to now it's not possible to say if that's the case or not and personally I'd rather reserve judgement rather than rush in now. the previous BTFC chairman who signed the lease agreement should be the one pursued here in that case - their club made substantial cuts to costs and let a lot of good players go in order to make ends meet - so it sounds like they really don't generate the cash anyway

They are ran by volunteers and there are a lot of community days/fun days etc at the Town - will Pools provide this in future? I think not. You are looking at this from the viewpoint of the debt collector

What I cant understand is how IOR are willing to write off around £1m a year on a football team that gives them some sort of status with their customers and yet are willing to force shut a small local side over £10k, whilst appearing not being willing to negotiate. Fair enough if the amount was £100k but surely not over £10k!
