Sorry Mr Chip, I just popped in browsing and found this. I've been quite quiet in the meantime like, but really it's nothing personal, just light hearted jovialism. Perhaps I don't know where the line is eh??

Highly unlikely I'd bleat to the moderators though, cos I am a moderator and as the current debate goes I can do owt I want. confised

Not for too much longer one hopes. As Mr I said before he flew off to Mombasa, a shake up of the original moderators is required.

Well I've never deleted or amended any post by Mr I if that's what you're inferring.

Nor do I recall ever amending or deleting any post by another moderator either.

You've a proper bee in your bonnet at the moment haven't you.

Mr Fireball, serious question, how many people do you think will contribute £20 per month?

I might, and one or two others might, but you seem to be suggesting that dozens of people will.

Mr I will be rubbing his hands if he thinks that there's a rake of people out there planning on putting that much in.

For me, I see this place as somewhere to let off steam, to laugh at myself, and others, and have good craic.

I dont see it as somewhere to be taken seriously. If you want serious debate, there must be hundreds of message boards for you. If someone says something controversial, then so what?

First off, can I start a gay branch? Will anyone back me up?

More importantly, Dibbler is absolutely right. And if there's an "Old Guard" and a "New Guard" as Chip suggests, then I'll back a return to as it was.

Yes, the Bunker has developed into a community ... but at the end of the day it's Mr I's board, and nobody else's.

The Bunker would be a lot better place if people didn't take the thing so fcking seriously. I cringe like fck at some of the stuff that gets posted on here by blokes who really should know better. It's a fooking internet messageboard for gods sake, IT MEANS NOTHING!

In 'real life' if I don't like someone or I don't want anything to do with them then I just ignore them, I don't drag it on forever, stamping my feet and get emotional about it. Can I suggest to people if they don't like people that much that they just click the Ignore/Foe button or whatever it's called,

The only person I have on mine is sussex07 because he is so unbelievably irritating and now I hardly know he exists. Give it a try...am sure it'll improve your enjoyment of the place.

I don't have any argument with any of that Chip, but it was this last bit that caught my attention.

a bit like monty in fact, god rest his soul.

Do you know something I don't?

yes but the fact of the matter is that the bunker has grown to such an extent that john, whilst he remains owner can no longer afford to run the place on its own. the you tube clips for instance add to the experience, but cost a bloody fortune.

we have had this debate several times, we have discussed having adverts on the board, charging for membership etc etc and nothing ever got done. its right that john gets financial support but i just think before you go down the route of taking donations from anyone, somebody stops and thinks about what it means in terms of ownership and decision making in the long term.

you cant go back to the way it was once you offer anyone and everyone a financial stake in the board. as you say at the end of the day its johns decision, but i cant see how you can bar someone for instance who has been making regular payments towards the upkeep of the board, to be honest i dont see how you can even lock a thread of theirs or remove a post. take the likes of derwent for example, who caused no end of chew in his previous guise, and has already upset a few of the old timers. once he has paid his money out to john for a few months do you honestly think he is going to sit back and let anyone else dictate to him ?

im more than happy to contribute regularly financially, but if i do, i would expect to see some consistency in the moderating for a start. this catch all outlawing of rarfery for instance ? who determines what rarfery is ? ive seen rippers hitlist of people he would like to cull, and its basically anyone left wing with a brain, which rules out half the board including me. mad john and trimdon, who has only just come back ffs.

take west park poolie for instance. run his name through the members list, search his recent posts, and you couldnt ask for a more well mannered and unobtrusive bloke on a message board. a bit like monty in fact, god rest his soul. if he is the sort of gadge we allegedly want shot of, then god help us.

Giving cash to help with the board is fine, but IMO it doesn't give the person donating it the right to have a say in the running of the board. You're not buying shares in The Bunker. The next argument will be about who gives the biggest donation.

For flip's sake, this is JUST a messageboard? This whole thing is being taken far too seriously.

And I'll restate my position, no matter who donates what ... it's still Mr I's board. He's the moisturising gaffer.

Of course there's another alternative, one that no-one has yet voiced or considered although we're all aware of it. This might just be the straw that breaks the camels back and he'll just pack it all in as he's threatened to before.

I doubt he'll let anyone buy him off and that seems to be the idea here, that if you contribute you get to pull the strings and, speaking from my own point of view, I'd simply walk away, you aren't buying chunks of me, simple as.

I don't see why Mr I can't just charge a fee but still remain in control.

If people don't like something and want to retract their subscription then so be it. I'm sure the place will survive.

Ripper's hitlist?

You're making stuff up again Chip and it's becoming fkin tedious.

The only person I've said that I'd ban if it was down to me is Obafemi because he adds the sum total of knack all to The Bunker.

Yawn yawn yawn.

I could argue that a sad old bloke who makes up stories about having birds scattered around the country who he nips off to shag every now and again had serious mental issues and couldn't get it up if he ever actually got the opportunity.

That's my preferred option to be honest.

I'd happily chip in to fund The Bunker if The Bunker is what The Bunker always was.

I can't see me wanting to be involved with a happy clappy love in promoting the equal rights of people who don't even read the place in order to provide a self satisfied smug glow to the morally righteous.

Maybe the place is currently a victim of it's own success and a return to it's roots is what is required?

And while we're on, why the fk do we need You Tube clips anyway if they mean a git big rise in the cost of the place?

Agreed (well I'd never use the word 'git').

It's surely just as easy to post the link.

I had intended to make that very point, but you've beat me to it. If the YouTube clips are making a substantial difference to the costs of running the Bunker, then it makes perfect sense to limit them to links only, just as easy to see, unless you're in China of course.
