yes.

Safety is paramount. I would love us to finish around 12th or higher but as it goes on it looks like we may struggle to finish there.

I certainly would. Especially as I think obtaining safety will be far harder than I'd banked on a month ago.

I think we'll finish much higher than 20th because there are far more inconsistent teams below us in the table at the moment.

At the moment of course you would take it, but you couldn't be happy with it.

After all the talk in the summer to finish worse than last season would be a sad indictment on the people running the club whether we stay up or not.

We are very consistent at the moment.

Three defeats in a row.

Six away defeats in a row.

8 defeats in 11.

Hardly coupon busters are we!!?

I noticed Hereford had a crowd of 1,300 mid week for a league game. They went down last season.

Division four is grim, we don't want to be there.

Edit; it was the season before but still

Love your optimism but we don't look much either and we don't have a quality attack or Snodgrass, Grella, Becchio or Johnson in midfield.

Stop the season now for me and lets get off and prepare for for next season. With regards to other teams being more inconsistent than us I think the key factor could be, will they make the change required to get away. Tranny have and seen some decent results lately, what happens if 3 or 4 teams change managers get some points on the board and we are stuck in the same old rut. It's worked for Brighton..........

How the hell would relegation bring the missing fans back? I can't believe that freak season of 2006/07 could lead to such complacency. Of the four teams relegated last season, Crewe are doing the best. They're eleventh. The other three are in the bottom half, with Cheltenham currently only two places above the loids. How can anyone think that pools, with our history, are nailed on to do any better. Anyone who would prefer relegation to skin-of-teeth survival needs their bumps feeling.

Would I take 20th now? No, I'm not that defeatist. And I saw grounds for some optimism today despite the score.

Agree with the point about complaceny. Don't forget that in League 2 there is a salary cap so we'd have to ship out alot of players as it's worked out on receipts not IOR bailing us out, so we'd be left with Foley and Power with our crowds and have to resign Budtz. We'd sink like a stone

If I knew for certain that another period in League 2 would help us march back all the stronger with us taking our first trophy along the way then I'd happily take relegation. Winning football would clearly bring a lot of fans back. But its a shaky assumption to think that relegation would do us any good. Boro supporters were thinking the same thing last season and it certainly isn't working out that way for them. Plus, people have already pointed out that Hereford, Cheltenham, Crewe and Northampton have not found things a cake walk this season.

Clearly league 2 is not a particularly strong league and I accept that even last time we went down it took us a couple of months before we found our feet. But I still think staying in this league, playing teams that people will want to watch us play, is in the best interests of the club. That and a proper manager of course

If we finish 20th and in the same position as last year, what was the point in signing 14 players?

We may aswell have kept last years rejects and plodded along aimlessly into the same positon.

If Mr PoK had posted that you'd have been creaming your pants to laugh at how stupid a statement it is.

i think if we finish 20th then Uncle Ken will look for a new manager, and those 14 new players will be used better.

I think there is quality in the squad and a better manager would be able to get this squad into a top half position.

realisticaly i think we are only 2 players off being a very good team.

I'd have agreed with him, why sign shit loads of players if you finish in exactly the same positon as the friggin year before!!!

It makes no sense and just proves, as misterb says, we need a new manager to motivate them properly.

IMO.

1st - Perfect
2nd - Automatic promotion,very happy
3rd,4th,5th or 6th - Play offs,thatll do nicely,especially if we won them.

7th - 20th we avoid relegation so yes ill settle for any of those positions.

21st,22nd,23rd,24th - NO THANK YOU, I dont want to go down to the basement ever again.
