And for the record, The Clarendon and The Studio are more my cup of tea too, been drunk in them both on many occassions. Chuck in King John's too for the cheap booze and we're ready to rock.

Now your talking my language, King Johns all the way everytime i go down the town the perfect starting place, when I am home might join you for a pint

King Johns doesn't have much of an atmosphere (its Wetherspoons ffs) and it actually smells of puke.

The puke smell was horrendous one night I went in, so bad we had to leave - the next week it still smelled bad and even months later there's a residual smell.

I'd rather just go in the Jacksons Arms or Clarendon.

Like that pub on the rivers edge in York, it always smelt of vom (due to the flooding), I could'nt understand why the other punters were'nt bothered by it. Unless it was the meeting place of the York and District Rhinitus Society.

I have never walked into a pub in this town and felt that people are looking down on me. When it comes to the beer you can get a shit pint anywhere.

One thing I will defend for the white house, tall ships, black olive and north star regulars though is that the majority of people in there have at least had a wash and splashed a bit of old spice on, this is gonna sound a bit cheeky but some people who visit king johns and the clarry really need to have a bath and wash their clothes once in a while....

I've had no problem with the White House. On the odd ocassion we've been in there the food and drink has been OK. But generally speaking, when I go in a pub with my better half, we talk to each other, and take very little interest in other peoples conversations. It's not the sort of place I would go to, to get drunk in, but then again I very rarely get drunk anyway, as I'm the only driver in this 31 year relationship of ours.

To lads of a certain age it'll always be The Warrior, myself included. It's what we grew up with and what we're used to.

but some of us are old enough to remember the pub as the mowbray not the warrior or vineyard and obviously the current owners who reverted to the original name
