While you're on EAD, can you ask if people with tickets for the home end also be allowed to sit in the away for this one do you think? :coool:

howay chip man i thought even you had a bit more about you than that - the singing corner - whilst it may have been a success for some - to me was an embarrassment - you dont all have to get together like a bunch of choirboys to chant - sing where you stand if you want too - people will join in - and if you want an area to sing in make it your area now.

i find it all very newcastleish a singing area - not earthy liek we're meant to be - get the people back in first.

The time is right to contact everyone you know who has been to pools, or even who hasnt to get their arses there against middly keynes - even if just to read my excellent programe article on franchise fc which holds no punches.

keep on at them - i have seen my group of people i go with drop from a good dozen to five on saturday - pressure will be applied to the rest to get them in and back.

The point I made prior to the Walsall 'singing section' match, was that the reason away matches can have a better atmosphere for Pools fans is their 'togetherness'. Having little pockets of disjointed singing at home isn't working. It worked well, I thought, in that match, and I'm sure it was partly responsible for the good result that day. All together in the Rink End would be better of course, with the better acoustics, but I think that will have to wait until at least next season.

Was an ex-rinkender myself, (70's) with all it's trappings - thick roped noose hanging down, oxblood dm's et al...
but never, like many, embraced the move to the Town End, no disrespect to the lad's in there, but I don't think the vocals have been of that volume since.
Sort of drifted into the Millhouse Terracing and have resided there ever since. Remember standing in the Town End in the Leeds F.A cup match (80's), and all I could think of was what are that lot doing in our end.
I think a lot of older fans think it's a kids habit to chant at home games, but will gratefully embrace it at away games. When infact its something, I think, that appeals to fans of all ages, it's a tribal thing, and I enjoy it.

Obviously you would, you being from MK and them being your "first team" and all that...

I'm all for it but in fairness, I sit in the Cyril Knowles stand and you could hardly hear the singing. We need the Rink End back I reckon. It always sounded loud when we were last in there.

f ucks sake katcha man, grumpy miserable old get that you are! if you started singing on your own the fella next to you would look at you as if you were demented and you'd be a bit embarrassed and stop and perhaps shuffle away a bit!!

no-one likes choreographed stuff, but its the times we are in I'm afraid and it has to be done.
personally I loathe 'goal music' and feel the fans shouldn't be told to celebrate a goal and should be left to make their own noise - but there you go, opinions eh?!

I think its a great idea to do it again, but it should be a regular thing - if you want to sing and get the atmosphere going thats where you go, and hopefully the rest of the ground will follow suit - untill we get the rink end back of course!

post of 2010 btw, ta!

I'm not having a dig but it's a messageboard where you can vent your feelings. You just could hardly hear the folks in the corner from where I was sat (just over the halfway line in the Cyril Knowles)

I'm sure the players could though so fair enough.

My point is that if we got the Rink End back next year, it may make a difference.

They should split the town end in half again and allocate the Clarence road side to the away fans. Oh and move the barriers so that people can again walk round at half time. Thats why there was a better atmosphere in those days, the vocal home support gathered in the same place.

Sounds not unlike what is being recreated with the singing corner. Might I suggest that the singing corner is congregated further up so that there is a roof to amplify the sound. Thats when you get loud support, when there is a decent cover to stop the sound disappearing upwards..

the Mill House seats top corner was always cracking. The singing could be heard around the town centre, never mind around the ground.
Oh yes it could - the best atmosphere we had for years

One or two people in other parts of the ground said they couldn't hear it.
Instead of taking that as an attack on the singing section idea can't we see it as constructive feedback ????????
I don't think anybody is against any effort to improve the atmosphere, but there ought to be be feedback to improve it even further.
Surely sctatchinghead sctatchinghead sctatchinghead

But you just know they wont help next time either.....will you Ripper?

What's that aimed at me for?

Last time around I encouraged the idea without ever saying that I'd be getting involved. For the record I think that it's a cracking idea for those who want to do that sort of thing and getting them together in one spot is commendable and beneficial.

Sorry for having a mind of my own but I don't want to go and stand in the corner to sing and shout for an hour and a half. I've grown out of that stage of my life and prefer to concentrate on watching the match nowadays.

Each to their own and if you want to organise a singing corner again I'll not be knocking the idea in the same way that I didn't last time, but it doesn't mean that I should be obliged to "help". stpid

But it is possible to sing and shout, AND watch the game. I'm sure you're capable of doing two or more things at once.

How about a Double-Banger here..

Singing Section re-instated for MK Dons, with tickets in that area at a Reduced Price!?

People would then maybe buying a 'singing ticket' and then just move on to another part, thus getting the reduced ticket discount but swindling it a bit.

Granted it's bums on seats.

Reduced prices for mk or some kind of offer all round would work better.

I don't think capability comes into it BP. It is whether you want to do it. Mr Ripper doesn't and that is his choice.

You're just being silly now Mr Dibble.

Yes, I observed that it wasn't overly noisy for long periods but I also observed that it did create a fair level of noise for short periods. I wasn't critical, I wasn't negative about it and I applauded the efforts of those who took part and especially those who went to the effort of organising it.

To say that somebody can't comment on something is taking things to a whole new level of silly, even for The Bunker.

Your apology will be accepted by way of you buying me a pint in The Millhouse.

I can attest that in my most recent experience, there was never a shortage of noise on the halfway line in the Millhouse Terrace but there was some rather odd smells. confised sctatchinghead
