Since nobody else is posting (and Muttley misses me  ) I thought I would post my thoughts about yesterdays game.

I have not posted much of late. Unfortunately I just seem to be losing interest in Pools these days. I dont get so worked up when we lose and just cant be bothered posting :uhoh:

Ive never been like this before (even when we we shiite and bottom of the 4th tier). I always used to be motivated and a defeat would ruin my weekends (and a victory make the beer taste so much sweeter). Not these days unfortunately. I had forgot about yesterdays game until I logged onto here this morning (for the most part it was instantly forgettable like!)

My thoughts for what they are worth.

* Liddle was excellent.
* Sweeney IS a better right back than a midfielder (Im sick of saying this so wont say it anymore  ) Obviously Austin is the preffered choice when fit but as cover Sweeney will do.
*Boyd looked very good the second half. Great assist for the goal
*Our attackers need to learn what the offside rule is.
* It was BLOODY freezing - I cannot remember being that cold at a game for yonks and I actually just wanted to go home.
* The lack of a midfield was apparent as always. Fortunately it looks like CT is going to address this.
* I thought hartley did quite well. Ive never been convinced by him yet but he is slowly improving game by game imo. He cant half cross a ball too!
*That run down the full length of the pitch by Jones in the second half :coool: :coool: :coool:

I think midfield signings over the next few weeks will detemine our season. If our squad stays as is then we will be in a relegation battle but one or two decent midfielders could really make us a decent side.

Fair summary there, Gravey.
Hopefully we can land Healy in January, or somebody of his ilk.
Otherwise,it's more downhill than Kitzbuhel confised

Fair summary indeed.

I thought the pass from Sweeney to Boyd that allowed him to move into the box to set Monkhouse up was superb too.

We really are not far from being a really decent team in this league. The irritating thing about our current predicament is that I don't think we are bad enough to be relegated but we don't seem to be quite strong enough to make a serious impact on this league yet. Hence the low crowds. Hopefully a few more signings in the key posistions will help us consolidate our top half position.

My mate who is an Ipswich fan said the following on a different messageboard...

Jish - Healy has been pants for us and never even gets in the squad any more. In a twist of fate it looks like he will be joining Hartlepool on loan - I bet Jeff Stelling will be pleased!

Sounds like it might be common knowledge.

If we do get Gamble and Healy then we should try to offload a few of our squad players to make way. Get shot of Foley at last to any one who'll have him ( how much money have we wasted on him paying his wages, obvious as a kid he was never a footballer just a whippet ) and let Gateshead have Mackay, plus let Power and let Rowel go out somewhere in L2 to get some experience and toughen up.

I just hope CT doesn't sign those 2 and then try to squeeze Jones, Humps or Sweens in to keep them happy at the expense of someone else. When everyone is fit in the new year it's got to be the best team in their best positions and not like McClarens England selections of keep the established lads happy.

We do need a midfield or we will go the journey this time and see the curse of the 3rd season in L1 strike again for the 3rd time.
