Question, if they were found guilty of killing a deer, how come they were cleared of a second charge of causing cruelty to a wild mammal under the Wild Mammals (Protection) Act 1996. Throw the lot at them!!

They should be publicly flogged to within an inch of their lives, then locked up for five years, it is a well know fact that people who abuse animals like this can go onto abuse children in years to come.

Punishment for these sorts of crimes against animals should be at least equal to those against humans. Murder is Murder. assault is assault. It takes a real big man to treat animals in this way. They must be so proud of themselves.

I have killed deer a number of times same as pigeons and geese, granted it was with my shot gun so I do I fall into this bracket?

I didnt I killed it for my dinner, everything I have ever killed (shot) I or a member of my family has eaten it, and when I have a child I will take them as well as I want them to understand were food comes from and not from tesco.

Generally when you hit a goose it drops from the sky dead, if its winged it comes down were you go and get and ring its neck. Pigeons, partridge, etc if you hit them they are dead.

I dont give a dam what you think of me, I just think its very hypocritical that you all will be eating turkey/goose/duck/pork for christmas that has been killed by someone. I will be having goose which I shot myself last Jan in Scotland.

I only go shooting now once a year, I used to always go down the creek with my uncles when little for pigeons or ducks. To be honest shooting and prepairing a wild bird yourself I think shows more respect to the animal than buying so bird that has lived a god-forsaken life due to the supermarkets thats then rapped in cling film. At least the animals i will be eating a christmas spend the majority of their life in the wild.

I have to find myself agreeing with you here compo. Everyone will be scoffing a massive bird on christmas day, to call you a savage is a bit wrong.

sorry I didnt say because I am hungry and dont count myself big or clever for doing it. I like venison, partridge, phesent etc and would rather me kill it and gut it than anyone else. Why should i take it on a deer with my bare hands, butchers and people who work in slaughter houses dont (which is were all your meat comes from) the hypocracy of your posts is astounding.

Obviously killing an animal just for the sake of it is wrong,as is animal cruelty & no sane person would condone it,but to say killing an animal equates to killing another person is radged.
As for Mr Compo going out shooting,I dont see the problem,going out shooting a deer is no worse than leading a cow to a slaughterhouse.

We all have different opinions tony but when you've actually had an animal as a pet then you see a side to them which makes it impossible for most people with pets to actually want to kill one themselves.
Anyone who can take a gun and shoot a defenceless animal like a deer wants their foooking head looking at.

Plonker alert! I have had pets all my life but I see them as that pets. I see cows / birds etc as lovely creatures but in the end what are they bread for thats right meat for us to eat, without which there wouldnt be this lovely wild habitat were cows roam free that all the friends of the earth imagine, the land would be there to grow crops if everyone was a vegetarian. I want an animal I eat to have the best possible life before it dies and lives for its purpose to give humans their dinner, I would rather eat an animal that has been wild and had a good life than a one bread in a farm.

My point is that you will eat meat but you have lost the aspect of were that meat comes from. When you eat your chicken or beef etc do you not realise that that was once an animal or are you so diluted that you only see it wrapped in cling film in asda.

Also can I ask have you ever bought a chicken for under £4.00 or bought 2 chickens for a fiver in tesco?
