I was talking to a long term Chester City supporter on Friday night and he was saying that they were playing their youth team today. They obviously can't pay their pro's

I remember when Chester had their original stadium in ther 80'sand they were a stable organisation. It's now part of a shopping precinct

It's a shame for real Chester City supporters. They have a hard enough time with all the NW premiership clubs within an easy drive to compete with without having the recent ownership issues to deal with.

Beware of a similar fate all lower league footy clubs

Never went. I got a black eye once in Chester Road, does that count?? sctatchinghead

Seriously though, if you get bounced out of the Prem you get a shitload of compensation. If you get bounced out of League 2, you get a struggle. Something seriously wrong there. confised

I think there is some sort of Parachute Payment for those dropping out of the league (though obviously not on the scale of the failed Prem clubs), the problem at Chester seems to be a lot more to do with the person that's been running them. The guy who still owns them (having done the Ken Bates Shuffle at least once) has just been banned from running any company for ELEVEN YEARS by the Insolvency Service, and the club is supposed to be run by someone outside his influence. In this case, his son. Err....

Twohundredpercent has been charting a lot of their troubles (along with many others) - one of the more recent articles is http://www.twohundredpercent.net/?p=2881

Sealand is the most sterile ground going, its in the middle of a rubbish industrial estate and has about as much atmosphere as a grave yard
