Talking to a Brentford supporting colleague after work tonight about chants from the 1970's I was asked what is my favourite and there is only one answer ........................ my first ever season of Pools matches occured in the 1972 season which saw crowds triple to just over 6,000 as we fought to avoid re-election. I remembered not the somberos anti police chant, but as an excited rink ender singing just who was this 'Willie, Willie Waddell, Willie Waddell on the wing'. I reminded him that the last rendition of this tunefully ditty was in the pub on the corner before a 2004 FA cup 3rd round game at Brentford followed by a prophetic Jo, Jo Jo Alon or was it Joy, Joy Joy Allah ! Why oh why oh do we have a blank weekend on Saturday when Kettering have a fixture in the FA cup!

We adopted it as our club chant at Stirling Uni in the season we won the League!
