... what's the point? Sundry hoofers try the impossible and lose interest after 15 seconds. I've seen some shiit half time 'entertainment' in my time, but this hovers between poking pins in your own eyeballs and drinking liquidised raw liver. Abysmal.

I'm just glad to be in the Town End, and far enough away to ignore it.

That's what prompted me to raise the post in the first place. The kids penalty competition had just got started, the kids having their day in the spotlight when out booms... intermittently.. the dulcet smooth tones of Herr Winter announcing the lowlight of the day, kids distracted and then overshadowed. Piss poor timing for what.. ? Is the prize two weeks in a marshalling yard in Poland and Baltic cruise on the radioactive waste carrier M.V Toxic on Tees....? I never did find out. sadx

The penalty competition has been shit since they moved it from the town end normal goals, to the little goals on the half way line.

and that is a FACT!!

I don't remember it ever being in the Town End.

It started off in small goals on the halfway line in front of the Millhouse Terrace and stayed that way until the bar behind the stand opened. After that I couldn't tell you.

But the Millhouse Terrace in little goals is where it should be. FACT!

I tend to think not seeing as though you didn't mention it on your previous post.

You're older than you let on, but what's the problem with a few kids having a penalty competition, or isn't it as good as when you were a lad, cue Hovis music.... rolfl

Too right i scored, we lost to throston 3-2, only me n the keeper scored.

I think it was against darlo as the away end was rammed, and they we're all trying to put us off.

 At whoever cant remember it being at the Town End goal. It was there for years.

Goal was too big imo. Any kid who could control where the ball would actually go just rolled it into the corner and scored with keeper having no chance.

I like the penalty competition and for the kids not to have their name read out as they step up must be a big disapointment. Instead we have people with no idea how to kick a ball, trying to kick them in some tacky, shit inflatable. Iv said it before but did anyone at the club really think that this sounded like entertainment??

Which years then clever clogs?

I can only think that it was around 1992ish when I was away at Uni- it was done down the Millhouse side "for years" until the bar opened behind the stand. FACT!

It moved to the millhouse side only a few years ago.

Me n my mates used to have stupid bets on the penalty comp at the town end for years.

A few years ago?

I think you must be getting old.

There's been a bar on the Millhouse side for about 3 or 4 seasons now, and before that the penalty competition was on that side for at least 4 or 5 seasons!

I took one for the jumiors in 93 (season we played Sheff Wed in league cup when they got to final) that was at the Rink End.

We played a 5-a-side before the game and the 2 finalists had a penalty shootout at HT.

We won, I scored :coool:

It only matters cos I'm curious about when it was at The Town End cos I don't remember it!

And it matters cos I think you're getting old and starting to lose track of time.

Your probs right.

I used to stand in the town end towards the top right corner, and when i stood there, first promotion season, years before from about 1999, i'm certain it was there then.

and like i said earlier i deffo scored a pen there myself, i'm certain it was boxing day or around that time, but i cant remember which year.

I dunno if they still do it but they took you on a tour of the changing rooms n everything it was a brilliant day out.

It was there for a good while.

I notched a fine top corner strike there in the 90's, and it was still there well into the millenium when i had the funds to get a season ticket and go regularly.

Its called an educated guess. Only because you dont keep a record of something doesnt mean you cant have arough idea.

Not our fault you have the memory of a goldfish.
