We got the 3 points and suppose thats the important thing but the crowds wont be flocking back after what i thought was another poor performance. First half especially.

I like the look of Austin I must say and its nice having a footballer at the back. Collins again great and thought Hartley did well. Would have loved to have seen him deck that Goodison though

Thought Humps was poor and slow, Jones made a massive difference and was all over, thought he did very well. Monky quiet and Brown showed glimpses but still not involved enough for me.

Flinders-7. Brilliant save early on.
Austin 7. Very good going forward.
Hartley-7. Good display.
Collins-7.5. Solid.
Liddle-7.
Brown-7.
Monky-6. Too quiet for me.
Humps-5. Too slow and kept giving ball away.
Jones-7.5. Good showing.
Behan-7. Some good touches, some bad but plays a big part.
Boyd-6. Quite poor today I thought.

Greulich-7. Looks good, good in the air, has pace and got in soem good positions. Unlucky not to score when defender got touch on ball just before he would have scored.
Sweeney-4. Fucked up twice within seconds of coming on and just lost the ball whenever he had it.

Good result but poor performance. Id have took it before kick off but we need to start playing some football if we want fans back.

ps can the club actually brief the ball boys as to their job before the send them out? Lad picks it up, fannies about with it and then actually throws the ball into the crowd when the full ground and players are waiting for him to return the ball! Only at Pools.

pps can you get a microphone that actually works for Jeff Winter? Actually dont.

ppps do the club actually think that watching people who look like they have never kicked a ball before, attempting to kick balls through some cheap and tacky inflatable is actually entertainment?

You really must be the boringest man in the world.

Nowhere did I have a go at the ball boy. He clearly didnt know why he was there so it can only be the club at fault for not explaining it to them.

Yet again the Tree man resorts to abuse.

I agree with a fair bit of that but I thought Hartley was poor. I would give him a 6 because he scored. For him to get man of the match was a joke. Austin was far, far superior. Humps is crap, I know that it is not constructive but its all he is , crap. Its the same players week in week out who put in mediocre performances - Humps, Hartley, Monkhouse (who I have always defended, but he needs a serious kick up the backside). Oh and Sweeney of course, who managed to gift Tranmere a great opportunity within 5 seconds of coming onto the pitch.

Our defending was terrible and only poor finishing from Tranmere got us the points. I cannot recall seeing our players mark opposition players so slackly, it was concerning.

I was impressed with Greulich, how great it was to have some pace in the team! It was great to see Jones back, he was one of our better players.

On the whole though we were very poor today and Tranmere were the better side. The key thing was to get the three points given the tough games we have got coming up and we managed it like. We will have to play MUCH better to get points against the half decent teams.

I thought Tranmere were the better side today and were very unlucky.
I'll take the three points gratefully but won't get carried away because of that performance from us which was well below par.
We need a creative midfielder to replace Humps, who I thought was dreadful.
Monkhouse was just not interested and has far too many games like that.
Boyd was too interested in performing tricks and needs to be told to do the simple things with more effect.

The positive side is we are keeping clean sheets and picking up points, but I'll repeat, we were very lucky to keep a clean sheet today.

Concurring fully as usual.

most of their shots were off target. we had more of the ball just struggled to break them down. a lack of pace up front is part of our problem

To give Sweeney a four when he came on in the 87th minute solidifies your rarfery.

He made so many mistakes in the few minutes he was on the pitch that I think Tree is justified in giving him a 4.

If a sub comes on for only a few minutes and does nothing then a 6 would be fair but Sweeney nearly gifted them a goal within 5 seconds and was poor for the 8 or 9 minutes he was on the pitch.

im sorry you can't blame sweeney for that chance when he first came on, they took a quick throw-in and were 2 against 1 because someone never picked up their man from the throw in

He was skinned WAY too easily. It was humphries-esque. He played like a headless chicken for the time he was on the pitch. We were up against Tranmere who are apparently one of the worst sides in the division and they outplayed us on our own pitch. Defensively we were a shambles for the most part.

Like I said in another thread, its the same culprits every game who are to blame. We have a number of players who we praise repeatedly and who hardly ever put a foot wrong - Flinders, Collins, Liddle, Austin, Brown, Jones (when he plays) and usually Behan and Boyd (who both had a rare off-day yesterday). Its the others who let the team down.
