10 years ago it would have been a coup.

I'll give it a year before it shuts.

the aimlessly-wandering, tracksuit-wearing, pram-pushing pasty munchers are probably not going to change their shopping habits I think.
They should have opened another Poundland to cater for the vast majority of the shopping centre clientelle

Can't understand peoples opposition towards pound shops.

Everything in there is a frigging quid, and much cheaper than supermarkets and stuff, why hate them?

there brilliant!!

They're scruffy, their stock is tat and they're frequented by chavs.

Hope that helps.

It is probably the standard of clientele which gets generates peoples dislike of them.

3 is not enough, i want 33!!

The town centre is dying, it's obvious, supermarkets, retail parks and the internet is killing it.

So it needs to have shops that are as cheap as possible to get people in there.

In the end it's the customer who benefits.

I tend to go to music shops now just to browse. I download all my music as do most people these days - hence the reason why these shops are closing at a fair pace.

I prefer the independent "John The Con" type shops. Sadly they have suffered even more than the main retailers.

Download? refred

Not for me. I don't like copied cds either. Gotta be originals and I buy several a month on average so if we're getting a record shop then it's good news as far as I'm concerned.

They should open a pound shop in Bishop Cuthbert, next to some more affordable housing perhaps.

The only pizzas worth eating are Dominos and regular gambling is a mugs game favoured by the less educated folk who are convinced that they will beat the bookie.

Hope that helps.

Which reminds me ... if there's so much opposition to these houses at Bishop Cuthbert, why did only ONE resident turn up to a protest meeting which had been well advertised in the Press and with flyers through doors? sctatchinghead

Concurring with Ripper. I love buying CD's. On saying that I still miss the buzz of buying albums, and reading every word on the covers.

Downloading music is just shit. Typical of the "must have immediately, without paying for it, or really understanding it", ciulture we now have. And that has nowt to do with being old. Its all part of the antisocial society we now live in where by the only essentail things in life are the latest mobile phone, and facebook, so no fooker has to actually properly communicate any longer. And they have the twatting nerve to call it social networking. banghead Fook me, most people on facebook just lie about themselves dont they?

And the even dafter c*** that read it, believe them.

what about message boards then

Was just making the correlation between people using facebook to speak to others and discuss things and people using a messageboard.

Same John, i download a few tracks or i torrent a few older albums.

I also buy off itunes.

Trends change and buying the cd and getting the case and stuff like that just doesn't appeal to me.

Am i allowed that opinion?

HMV have take short term leases (3 months) on 30 ex Woolies and Zavvi (?) stores up and down the country. This looks to be one of them.

It will therefore shut at the end of December.

the woolworths in our town is far too big for a hmv, in harltepool anyway.

Music zone probs still has all the fixtures and fittings in place to hold cd's and dvds, so it makes sense too take over there.

Eeee well, you seem to be on the right message board to find loads of arrogance and self righteousness so I hope you have loads of unbelievability and astoundishment in reserve. There's loads more where that came from.
