Maybe we should organise a 'proper supporters' area in the ground, so that all the fans who go to the away matches can stand together, and create the same atmosphere that they do on their travels. At the moment, for various reasons, the away supporters are spread thinly around the ground, and aren't able to have the same influence, or drown out the moaners who always seem to be there in larger and louder numbers.

and

The Town End would have to be the site of our home singing area, unless we could get the Rink End back, with it's lower roof it would be better for acoustics, as the away fans often show us.

I know, it's hard to believe some on here are 'supporters' of 'our' club.

I was trying to do my bit, on the Mill House terrace, and people nearby were looking up to the seats, as if they were being put out by the annoying people making such a racket behind them.
sctatchinghead

It was nice to hear a bit of noise in the ground for the first time in a long time. Unless we get the Rink End back the Town End would be the best bet to maximise the singing wouldn't it with the roof amplifying the sound?

Ultimately though how anyone can criticise the sentiment and positive actions taken yesterday is beyond me?! sctatchinghead

Speaking for myself, I am trying to be constructive and telling it as I witnessed it. You can either accept that people are trying to help or you can take the stance that unless you hear what you want to hear you are going to attack any criticism, whether it be constructive or not.
Everyone knows that anyone who wants to join in the choir, behind the goal is the place to be. So, that being the case, why do the chanters spread themselves all over the ground????
If I was so desperate to be in the choir I would buy my season ticket for the town end. It really is as simple as that.

The rink end is shit!! I know its somewhat special to you poolies but its one of the worst places to watch a football match!!! Almost as bad as the old west stand at Feethams! Surely best place would be top of the Millhouse near the Rink End so you have a bit more banter with the away fans? When we played you in the cup in 95/96 I was in there & it was great.

When the club read this and other threads about the singing section and see how well it was recieved by the fans Hopefully it will set wheels in motion to turn the rink end back to the home end no matter what it takes.

We need somewhere ALL the singers will gather. Some in the town end seemed to have a problem with the (excellent) idea of having a singing corner. This was confirmed when some in there began to sing "you can stick your singing corner up your arse"......why is this? sctatchinghead

As far as I am aware all clubs have to provide away fans with seating area's which is why Pools always get some seats at places like Posh. And when you have to provide toilet and refreshment facilities as well it can make segregation difficult.

You can try and have a singing section anywhere in the ground and people can either back it or not, you can't roll the years back to wonderful intimidating atmosphere's over night but saturday was a good start. Hopefully saturday was just a start and more people will join in - in the forthcoming home games....

Yeah but it's not really worth investing for a game every thirteen years, is it, and only then if you pay for the hot ball.....

I'm sure these people have two f*** negatives on their car batteries.

There are people infesting these boards who would twist on twenty-one.

Feck em, Elvis. Well done!

This 4,000-mile away Poolie is backing you and the other real fans who get behind the team 100 per cent. Fook me ... I'm proud to be be Poolie!

The Rink End is not that good for watching the game.

The last time I was in the Rink End was for the Newcastle friendly which we were allowed to go in for,not the same I thought with the seats.

Should be as good as the old days if we were allowed in without seats though. rolf

I tried to do my bit with the flag waving as I can't sing for toffee.

That said I was once in the pop charts with a mob of others.

Has it occurred to you that some fans don't want to sing? And therefore didn't move thirty or forty yards to do 'their bit'? Instead leaving it to those who WANT to sing at Pools?

Of course it hasn't, cos everybody is supposed to do what they're told.

Good point.
I thought this was a nice idea, and I also thought it gave the team a lift. It was well-publicised and the players seemed to appreciate it.
However, it all seems to be turning a bit ridiculous. As Mick says, people will do what they want, support the team in any way they want. This endless point-scoring about what makes someone a 'good' fan is a bit juvenile.

How the f*** do you work THAT one out? sctatchinghead

I work that one out by logging on to here for the first time since Friday and finding comments being slung at me which are based on incorrect hearsay.

And then reading ADG's post which I took as another dig at me even though I'd never, anywhere, said that I would be going down to that corner even though I said (quite a lot) how good an idea I thought it was (for those who wanted to do it) and how great it was that a couple of people had put the effort in to sort it out.

For the record I think that as experiments go it was a success and that it should look to be continued at the next few games before any momentum is lost as I think it could grow and get better.

Nobody (certainly not me!) would have a problem with peoiple doing that. What I've objected to is quite different. My gripe is with people chuntering and describing peoples efforts as "Shyte". If you don't want to join in to help the atmosphere (and the players..it's there in Black and White) then that's fine. Just don't bump your gums about it in a way that puts down those who DID make the effort.

But,you see my point, Elvis. I'd like to think I did join in and help the atmosphere...just didn't do it by changing places and singing.

As for ADG's comments, I suppose they'll continue for weeks and weeks with only slight word-variations....a lot of you couldn't be bothered...do your bit.....call yourselves fans etc etc. He's a cross between a missionary and a sergeant major in these situations!!

Why don't we lock this before people start arguing over mis-quoted or misinterpreted posts when at the end of the day it was a well organised effort which showed a great deal of promise if the momentum can be kept for it to be repeated?
