A while ago I asked has anyone heard anything about the clubs centenary book and what was the position regarding the long awaited issue of this.

Er-indoors was told in JUNE this year that a letter was coming out to everyone who had ordered and paid for a copy of this explaing what was happening.

We are still waiting for this letter along with the book or any info regarding this.

It is now eighteen months since we paid for this and we have heard nothing about it. I know solid gold embossing takes some doing but this is now beyond a joke. refred

Has anyone been told anything as my last email quering this was not replied to. banghead

At this rate we will have to include another chapter to include some of this century too.

Reckon all those who stumped up their cash 18 months ago should be getting a copy free after all this time!

As you may or may not I have been closely involved with this project and whilst I appreciate your comments aimed at the delay, there really has been so much gone on behind the scenes with this that If I was able to fully comment on here then you would understand the delay. The book is an immense project and has been greatly improved by the delay with the arrival of newer (older) documents and images.

It will be safe to say that the book will of course be well worth the wait and seriously the couple of people I know at the club that have been tasked with the unenviable task of piecing all of this together really are pulling all out the stops

I know that the two have spent many hours in their office grafting away and I'm also sure that they won't mind me telling you that things haven't progressed as quickly as they would have liked and that coincidentally I have a further meeting with them tomorrow at the ground when I'll have an update on an expected release date, but that's not for me to release it's up to the club.

Like I say, I appreciate it is delayed but please bear in mind that the club has never taken on anything of this magnitude before and hindsight is a wonderful thing. Please exercise a little more patience, fruit will be borne soon. It will be a great achievement when it is finally available.

In defence of Katcha I know he borrowed some pics from my Mum, returned them, and then came back to get them again as the quality of the copies turned out to be shite. Having waited all this time for a trophy I'm happy to give it a bit longer for a book that does the club justice and has clear pictures in it.

So does production problems excuse the lack of information to those who paid the £30 up front in March 2008 for this book. We simply have heard nothing from anyone about this and 18 months later no matter what is causing the delay is not on.

We were asked for an inscription to be included with our advance orders and I do hope they are to be honoured and not forgotten about with the delay.

Thank you for appreciating my comments on this matter please feel free to raise them in your meeting on Monday and hope as you say the wait will be worth it.

Looking forward to seeing the finished book as it sounds like a masterpiece and one worth having, but please do try to keep us informed.

Which I need to return, I'll get that sorted ASAP.

Cheers

To be honest it's been so long that I can't remember whether I preordered a copy or not. I think I did but I'm not sure. And I really don't give a toss either way. It'll come outwhen it's ready. Personally I would rather buy a superb book in 2010 than a hurried-looking one in 2008. I'm sure the wait will be worthwhile

Me too,but not being told anything is not on after all this time.

I agree with poolymad. It's not the fact that the book is late is more about the lack of communication on what is happening or when it will be due.

I agree as well. Hopefully it will be worth the wait but it would be nice to be kept informed. 18 months is a long time!
