Except that there is no space for the kids to progress into.

But when the kids do progress to the ressies they do get to play with first teamers with their attitude and vision so the step up to the first team will not be that great a leap.

In addition, I thought Humps had a good game. His passing and vision was excellent. His lay off might have rejuvenated him.

Having just watched the highlights, our reserves look as good to watch as our first team right now. Some of the football played is excellent. Humphries did look like he controlled the game and I would like to see how he would cope as a holding player in midfield for the first team.

Sounds like it was better watching the ressies towards the end of that promotion season...

Its nice to see that we are getting back to the old CT days, when I used to go and watch the Reserves up at Seaham and you'd see a good, strong team every week playing VERY good football.

Players like Jermaine Easter, Mark Robinson, Matty Robson, Tony Sweeney etc used to be great in the Ressies, and you'd get the odd cameo from Gordon Watson, Kevin Henderson, Darrel Clarke etc.

I think I saw 90% of the reserves fixtures in those days, we used to wipe the floor with teams.

This was a reserve lineup from 2002/03:

Provett, Bass, Robinson, Widdrington, Sharp, Simms, Arnison, Sweeney, Stephenson, Henderson, Boyd

Wouldn't have looked out of place as a first team lineup.

For the next reserve game we left out Robinson, Widdrington, Stephenson and Boyd... and played Robson, Easter, Watson and Smith!

The youth team won their league that season too, with Craddock, Brackstone, Istead, Robson, Maidens, Appleby all regulars

Mr Mad, no offence but you need to get out more

Those early CT days were probably the most exciting IMHO as a Pools fan. Watching Tommy Miller score hat-tricks for fun, smacking Southend 5-1 ... those days will return ... but without Tommy Miller, I mean.

i'm starting to get the feeling that there is a lot of hard work going on behind the scene to bring them days back, with a bit of luck it might just happen!
