It would make sense signing the French lad as we have no cover at centre back with Clark out and Hartley hobbling off on Saturday.

Its a blow for us, as CT may well have been considering Clark for a midfield berth in order to change it around a bit. One thing I would consider is playing Jones as a defensive midfielder and bringing Ritchie Humphreys in, in a more creative role. If he's fit that is? I thought he might have been on the bench on Saturday...

As much as I like Clark, I dont think he would have been able to improve the midfield any more than it is. Away from home we are solid in midfield. Its at home when we need to be more creative that we have been lacking and I cant see how Clark would have helped with this. Ritchie should be every bit as capable of doing a job in midfield as Clark.

I hope he wasn't considering him as a midfielder, I know he's a favourite but he was terrible last season especially in the last couple of months of struggle, I don't recall a decent performance.

I would probably agree on Clark as a midfielder - he would only be useful in there as defensive cover. Humphreys, on the other hand, is one of the few players on our books who has a bit of craft and experience and may be useful (at least for part of the game) in there to slot a few passes in the right places when we need it...

Clark proved at the end of last season he isn't good enough to play centre midfield. He is a better centre half than Sam Collins and I'd have him in there over him anyday

Clarky gets the run around in midfield, he just seems to lack the mobility for the role and gets caught out too many times.

Clark was not very good in midfield last season.

Clark has a defender's instinct. When used in centre midfield he does offer the defence some protection, but he is too slow in possession. He receives the ball, stops, looks one way, looks the other, then plays a simple obvious ball. You don't get the crisp decisive first-time passing that you get from boland at his best. Maybe humphreys can do this.

Just what I was alluding to - I think it is definitely trying Humps in that position to see how it goes. Playing Jones alongside him may bring out a bit more creativity in Jones' game...
