I know we have'nt been playing great so far at home but im very disappointed in our attendances lately. Two or 3 seasons ago if we had been playing Norwich or charlton at home we easily would have got 5000 plus in, so where is it going wrong? Why are'nt the people turning up? I know you could say that its expensive so is that the main problem? I personally think the prices need to be looked at because the ground is getting lifeless and the atmosphere is lacking, teams dont get intimidated coming up here anymore. Even the big games dont create much hype anymore, prime example west ham last season, 4th round of cup vs big club and we still cant fill the ground. So far the crowds are very poor so what do people think the routes of the problem are, why has our fan base shrunk?

Because the people of this town are bounders. With a population of 90,000 people we should easily be getting 5000 + home fans.
Its got nothing to do with prices, if you made it a tenner in people still wouldn't come rage

Does anyone happen to know how many season tickets we sold this year and how it compares to recent seasons?

No.

Sorry.

I didn't buy one if that helps.

It was pretty high, around 1600 if I recall. 20% up on last year.

thats pretty damning if thats the case. We are attracting relatively few non season ticket holders compared to previous seasons.

i think a 20% increase after the 2 most frustrating seasons in history is a pretty decent increase. Especially with this recession thing going on. Its going to take regular good form and excitement in order to attract back the stay away fans. Its going to take time!

Stobbut.

Anyway, do you want a team half full of youth players and 10 aways without a point?? The rosy glow of Coopers achievements, vast though they were, needs keeping in context. confised

cooper always give the youth a chance. think it was 6 youth players i think broke through into the 1st team. you can watch better football on the rec or greyfields at the miniute than we are watching at the vic

Our crowds dropped half way through Wilson's second season.

Tranmere were absolutely stupid in hindsight to get rid of Ronnie Moore.

You can't watch better football at Grayfields than you do at the Vic.

I don't understand the not enjoying it anymore. I love going even though the home games this season have ended in disappointment.
When you've been going 20 odd years I find it unbelievable that people cant have the same passion or give up when the goings not so good.
Mind what chance have we got when people like kev are saying this, hopefully this is only the minority, we need as many fans as possible and the last thing we need is the diehards missing matches!!

Its not just the football for me Ralph its meeting up with your mates before the game for some craic getting on the terrace and having a sing song and those great one liners that get flung at the away team players and that is all missing.
On Saturday i looked around and there was people with there backs to the game talking some thing is missing at pools and in my case its not the results.

Kev, there used to be 10-15 of us sat in the cyril knowles corner and thats only 2-3 years ago, now its lucky if its 4. I know what u mean, I love the craic and when that goes it does take away a big part of the day.
For where you go a lot of the lads have been banned but our corner the lads just dont bother anymore. Its depressing and possibly in a few years time there might just be me on my todd cheering the team along sadx
