So it would've been our fault (i.e. the fans) if Gibson had bust us? stpid

I was too young at the time to remember what the circumstances were around that time unfortunately.

When has that ever stopped you?

I seem to recall many many posts on an abba 70's music thread before, and you we're just using wikipedia.

Use you wikipedia to search for Gibson

Yeah, but I'm sure we didn't walk out on 'Pools in our droves when times were tough, as opposed to Darlo fans.

How are you sure, you said yourself you wernt around.

I was only a nipper when all the Gibson stuff was going on, I cant comment on the crowds etc but remember everyone at the match and my dad being very pissed off. I started going to Pools in 1900, remember the viv-busby era when we were truly shocking.

Darlow building a 25,000 seater station was as ambitious as me turning up at the Playboy Girls Mansion in my boxer shorts and shouting "Come and get me girls".... When they'd finally stopped peeing themselves laughing, four days later, they'd have started stoning me, but I'd still have got better odds that Darlo..... I despair.

I was in the mill house seats with the old man, dont know whether it was because I was little or just the weather but couldnt wait till half time in most matches when my dad would give me a cup of coffee. It used to go cold as I wouldnt drink it and warm my hands with it. Probably didnt hel that the Cyril wasn't there so the wind wipped in right from the sea.

Can I ask a question re Garry Gibson. I only started supporting pools around 1989 and was only a nipper at the time so I was not aware of the ins and outs of Garry Gibsons financial dealings and will be less aware of what was going on than a lot of you guys.

Was he REALLY a Currant? Did he just look after himself and do nothing for the club? This seems to be attitude towards him but was he solely to blame for the dross of the late 80's/early 90's??

What I want to know is, WAS GARRY GIBSON DISLIKED PURELY BECAUSE HE HAD A BEARD?

Here's a clue.

When they played the testimonial for Cyril Knowles, they almost had to hold a gun to his head to get the money to Betty, Cyrils missus. I understand that the much missed Paul Mullen had a lot to do with that

That was about typical of the man and currant is paying him a compliment.

Gibsons era was the most exciting period in Pools history till then, promotion and decent signings, but it was really a ride on a roller coaster with no brakes and based on the lunatic theory that the rest of the track could be laid before it got to the end of the ride, it wasn't. It crashed.
