... just got back from Boston and the lads there said the Ruby Norton has started to pull into shape, but is totally unreliable and isn't worth the investment, so I'm thinking about writing it off ... the Sandy Sole is incapable of improvement and should be got rid of.
Can I have your R.I. factor, I've still got an 80% figure again, could be the unexpected turn of events that produces its own reversals.

Only one person need reply. Me.

So thanks for that.

Snowy. The RI is down to 69.8.

Ruby Norton, as you say, is all over the place.

Sandy Sole is pointless. Yet some still invest in it. Bizarre.
When I mentioned Sandy Sole to the foreman and he just burst into laughter, he said it had enough power to run the engine and steering, but not at the same time..... so it's gonna get a thorough survey and could be used as a 'dumb hopper barge' ........

Well according to Lloyds Register, they're filled full of shite and lead everywhere .... but that's not exactly how Lloyds would word it.

I'm guessing it's some really gay code to talk about people on this board.

Heres the gen from Lloyds Dibble.
M.V. Sandy Sole. laid down 1983, launched 1984.
Previous names .... Foghorn Leghorn1984 to 2005...MV. Barney Rubble 2005 to 2006.
Sailed under various flags of convenience.
Has had problems with engine noise since new and despite efforts to rectify the problem continues to give off a distinctive whine when overstressed or forced to manouvere in rough seas. Does not respond to helm well and can be quite irritating to those unfamiliar with its eccentricities.
The vessel is unmodernised and presents a very 80's aspect, due no doubt to its absentee owners over the years.
Currently tied up and awaiting a decision over its future.

Excellent stuff.

Do you know if LLoyds will provide the test certs for the vessel in question?

Now that's a tricky one. To qualify, they'll both need drydocking again and be need to be thoroughly examined by a Lloyds surveyor which won't be cheap ... and he's going to say they're both at the end of their useful lives.
I think dumb hopper for the Sandy Sole and a mooted sale of the Ruby Wax as a floating gay disco in Rotterdam would make sense all round.
Also, don't forget I've got options on the Sandy Sole 2 and Sandy Sole 3, which are at least viable propositions and nowhere near as gross as the original Sandy Sole.
