we plough everything we get into recordings and releases though, and paying for tours an that - so theoretically these things dont cost us personally.........

na, the lads in the band are as honest as the day is long.
Its almost always the promoters who make the most, although they always say they pay the soundman/bands/PA etc......bands get fuck all as do sound men, PA's are too expensive to hire and most venues have em anyways.......I suppose venue hire might come into it, but the promoter pockets the lions share - no doubt about it!

There are some really decent local promoters however and Groovy Crimes is one of them!!!
others I would say are TKASG and Andy kelly, as well as us DIY types who literally dont see a penny as our policy is to pay bands cos we know how shitty it is not to be paid!

yeah, it pisses us off that we entertain people, well sometimes, and dont see a reward for it.
But lets face it, pubs and clubs wouldn't pay for a band like us cos the general public wouldn't be interested, by and large they want hits/cover bands/ blues and the pubs pay those bands well!
fairy fluff, I did try it once over but it wasn't for me.

Also, when i was in Junior Elvis and we were very close to 'making it' money issues drove me mad and spoilt the band for me! So to be in a band where I know from the outset that there will be no cash issues and its purely for the love of music and playing and making it, then that for me is great! Its my hobby so if i didn't love it there'd be no point doing it!

I think that was a very similar case our kid in his band salty, as soon as money came in from gigs, it went on recordings, they even had a cd out on a small label but he never made anything from it, such is the case when your just starting out.

hang on, I reckon the bands will be paid from pigpen I just dont know any details, I said I'm not certain if we will - but probably/hopefully will be!! I definately dont know about comps!!!

a while back we got small label interest even put summat out on dont tell clare - but we figured in the ned we may as well do it ourselves.

we're in the process of getting a 7 inch done on vinyl and doing everything bar the pressing ourselves

small record labels now are finding it hard to make any profit and aren't really signing many bands anymore sadx

See Hot Club De Paris. Doing OK and being realistic. It was always tough and the least important link in the chain was the musician. Once you've played it you can't unplay it, which was why our drummer was 18 clem and nails. He could play a bit too..... :grin:
