That sentence reveals you to be totally ignorant of the fact that there are other jobs outside the limited spectrum your imagine can comprehend. You reveal in all it's glory the idiotic view abroad in this country that anyone who isn't in one of the air conditioned professions and actually works outside or on site getting dirty, doing the 'work' that makes things actually work, is to be looked down upon. It's always been the same and it's getting worse...the Germans and Japanese have no such prejudices and look where they are.

Ripper why do you always put down people who make a good argument against you stating that Kosher has been brainwashed by the establishment. He works in the field so probably knows more about what he is talking about than you.

Just because everyone doesnt conform to your "norm" or educational opinion they all must be idiots or been fed a line by the governement

He doesn't put people down with a good argument, he's putting you down because you haven't!

That point you have just made is so far removed from the truth its shocking. I have never looked down on anyone for having any job what so ever, it was drilled into me at a young age. I was the first person in my family to go to uni and was really greatful that I had the chance my parents didnt. My dad is a joiner, uncle a plumber, my granda used to be a miner and other a stell errector.

Dont ever judge me on your blinkered opinion of how you take what I write because I am not good at putting it across.

The German approach to Dyslexia is backed up by the law (Grundgesetz) whereupon it is an offence to insult someone with Dyslexia.....obviously makes for good work relations too !
German primary schools have a specialist Dyslexia teacher in place by law too....makes you think !

Can I also just say that I have also worked in jobs were I have got my hands dirty, I havent just went from education to a air conditioned job as you put it. I worked all the way through my education. in the summer from Uni to pay for the next years study I didnt have time off I worked at walkers crisp factory or helped my dad at his work sweeping lifting wood etc.

I have also worked for yorkshire water driving round the resovoirs collecting samples, one summer I did pot washing to get some extra cash.

Currently I work 9-5 in my "air-conditioned" job but Mon-thurs i also work 6-11 in a pub 2 nights behind bar and two in the kitchen. So dont try and tell me how the world works and how to get my hands dirty.

Compo are you on this planet...you made a patronising comment to the effect that why would anyone in higher education be hanging over the back of a ship taking notes. Oooh higher education , implying that those jobs aren't for the likes of 'educated' people.... If you still can't see the ignorance of your remark, I really do pity you.
As for your summer jobs, every student trots out the old summer job routine, one clown even said to me..."Oh I've got an engineering background too, I worked in a cycle shop one summer"... How we laughed, before we threw him over the side.

Hmm , that has always puzzled me Corn lad. Hitler ordered the killing of the mentally/physically people (the children straight after birth in cases) yet Goebbels was ok....and had a clubfoot !

I didnt intend it to be patronising remark and can see how it can be taken that way but i was coming back at the stupid point you made about using a computer on the back of a ship. Your point about pot calling the kettle black, havent you just been patronising to me directally claiming I dont know how the world works and never got my hands dirty.

I am not trotting out the summer job routine, i worked when i was at Uni as well and had a job since I was 16 as well as being in education. Every Monday to thursday I work 13 hours a day.

You say my comments are bad but you have constantly put me down throughout this thread, along with ripper. You seem to thing because you can construct a sentance have a good knowledge about a lot things (some of which irrelevant) your correct in assuming my opinion of the world, my education and profession.

1. How's it stupid to to refer to not using a computer on the side of a ship, if you went over the side, what use is a laptop which is impractical when a pen and notebook will serve the task quite easily and economically. Stop digging while you're losing.
2, I did not refer to you as the kettle, pan or even black, that was Talbot, but an apology on the point would be accepted.

I recall the day Maggie ( a middleclass trainee teacher) arrived....useless , kids ate her alive and she was crap. Then I recall the day I walked into a Leicester school...staffed by lots of "Maggies" ! I was alone...hated because I was better than them and classed as "common" due to my accent ! You just can't win

Correct, but YOU are the one who started off with yet another of your tedious 'old duffer' comments proclaiming your unquestioned knowledge of everything...well if you poke the crocodiles with a stick they eventually bite your balls off , as in this case...and yes we do have knowledge about a lot of things, it's called experience... rolfl

Fair enough I am sure when I am your age I can claim that everyone younger than me is wrong becasue I have experience.

Also can you answer my previous point:

A statement of fact is that I dont have a proper job. I did ask you earlier what you define as a "proper" job

Fair enough I do get your point, so by your definition I did have a proper job as worked with crime scene samples for criminal evidence without which the chain of evidence on the case would stop impeding the police to get a conviction of the perpitrator of the crime.

I never proclaimed my unquestioned knowledge of everything I was making the "old duffer" remark at the start of the thread implying that when ever any exam results are published someone always make the argument that exams are to easy.

I bet a few people would struggle on a GCSE , though there have been some dodgey years when a couple of "silly questions" have cropped up. History has remained (rightly so) the hardest GCSE to pass and any kid with a C grade up to an A -STAR grade should be praised to the hilt....or Hilts in my case !!!

Fair play to you, the worst thing about leaving the fss was giving up the home office pension

Actually Mr Ripper my school broke the mould last term when we stepped out of the national curriculum ahead of any "government instruction". I gave a talk to Warwickshire headteachers showing them what we had achieved and how we did it. It all began when I had a chance conversation with a teacher from LA in the States, from there I worked damn hard to pull our school away from government control (of curriculum) and we are now LEADING THE FIELD. Education ministers come and go....I dare say this government will do the same too !

Interesting...so what did you achieve, and how did you do it? You must have worked commendably hard to have stepped out of the 'government instruction' only last term, and to have demonstrable results so soon.
What did you implement instead of A levels and GCSEs for example?

That's all right, kosher....we're used to filling in the gaps where your posts are concerned.

By the way, you forgot to tell us what happened next.... that day you tore a strip off the Head and stormed home to drink red wine. Did they get a supply teacher that day?

We took an inner city primary and turned it around ( the donkey work began two years ago ) I went in as a secondary teacher and experimented on teaching 9-11 year olds at KS3 level (basically 13 year old level) even got them to do some GCSE stuff in maths. The results have rocketed up to and including the last SATs results. We got the community involved built allotment, play area, wild garden with pond, sensory garden and redecorated. One class tackled Shakespeare and then ended up wowing the RSC (they came in to watch) we took the play on the road , onto the radio and into the news papers. We have achieved 0% behaviour problems with kids who have every reason to kick off. We do adult education for parents and others. We train our football team with the local non league club. We send selected rugby players to Leicester Tigers for coaching and send our parents there to watch free night matches with their kids. We are about to twin with a school in Finland. We are taking our first trip to France next year.

The local authority has watched a school go from the real depths to one which continually suprises everyone. Our kids love the place and their parents are constantly telling us how they (the kids) can't wait to get back to school. You can teach GCSE to younger kids when they are buzzing like this. We ensure that science is taught with plenty of practical demo's , the more fun the more the work rate goes up. People visit our school and think there are no kids ! When they go into a classroom the kids stand for them. The classrooms are individually decorated ( I have a full sized Tardis..excellent for English lessons) and have state of the art kit to use .

We now want to carry on with our own curriculum which is suited to OUR kids and works , basically thats what ALL schools will be doing soon !

Excellent work. Which inner city primary is it? I've a few teaching friends in the south and midlands...they'll be bound to have heard of it. In fact, can't understand why I haven't already, being an avid Education Guardian reader.
