Post subject: Turner's pointless sub of the season Number 1

We were 2 nil down and Turner subs Austin for Hartley banghead

We needed to change things up front so while Brown for Boyd was understandable it wasn't ideal. IMHO we needed to add some pace to the flanks in addition to Brown to make their comfortable defence deal with something different. Larkin (or even Foley) for McSweeney or Sweeney (MOM my bum!) would have given us some pace and possibley more width.

Whatever the combination Turner could have put up front a straight swop, defender for defender, at that stage of the game was pointless.

how the fook do you know why he did it? was Hartley injured? was it the fact that he was getting tortured?

did it cost us the game? would a different substitution have got us a point or more?

most pointless post of the season so far

Turner should go back to being director of sport.
Why on earth he started with Boyd up front he looked about as fit as a carthorse.
We were the home team and yet we sat back why ? Charlton are a decent side and play good football but we let them play we never closed down never won a ball in midfield and apart from Behan we never put there back 4 under pressure.Under Mr Cooper we would not of seen a lack of pressing and closing down the ball.

The game on Tuesday night will show how far this team has come on since last season or not.

Chucking forwards on isnt always the answer.

Hartley was our weak link yesterday, their winger had him inside out. Im not taking anything away from Hartley who didnt go missing but he just wasnt upto it yesterday. So as we are trying to get into the game we may just need to stop their biggest threat.

That or Turner accepted we werent going to score all night and knows Austin will be first choice full back when fit so why not give him 10/15 mins.

It made sense to give Austin some time on the pitch. He will no doubt be a regular in the starting 11 soon so we need him to be familiar with the other lads. At 2-0 down turner had nothing to lose by making such a change and I dont believe any 'attacking' subs would have got us anything from the game.

I tell you what, it tells you something when Grave is talking sense and one or two others are speaking absolute dog turd.

I agree with what Grave said about giving Austin time but I don't like to see managers giving up on a match and with Larkin doing so well in mid-week I'd have like to seen him have sometime.

Larkin was injured! As pointed out by CT's Post Match Interview.

Must admit I was surprised he didnt get on the field, But then he wasnt even amongst the subs yesterday due to his injury in the warm up.
