(for what they are worth..)

Well I think there were a mix of positives and negatives from that game. The biggest positive probably being that we wont play against sides as good as them every week! There was a clear gulf between us both and I dont think Charlton ever got out of second gear. Their movement and control in midfield took a stranglehold on the game.

We clearly lacked a link between midfield and attack for the majority of the game. We improved notably when Boydy went off and Brown come on. prior to that we were just not mobile enough.

I dont think we can grumble about the final score.

Positives:
Behan - looks a great find to me! Strong, with a neat touch and a cracking shot on him. I can see him becoming a fans favourite. I have no idea what went wrong at Cork city for him.
Flinders - I felt he looked solid. I heard a couple of people moaning about his wherabouts for both goals but I dont think he was to blame whatsoever. Good kicking too.
Liddle - looked solid enough for the most part as a centre half.

Negatives:
Hartley - struggled badly at left back. He looked what he is - a centre back playing as a left back. From what others who attended the away games have said, he was meant to look ok so maybe today was just an off day. Austin looked much better.
Our midfield - We struggled badly in midfield as a unit. I think we missed Jones today. I forgot Sweeney was playing until halftime, he did however come into the game once brown come on.

The other new lads looked 'ok'. Fredrikson showed some good touches but was bullied off the ball a bit, ditto Mcsweeney.

I think we greatly missed Joel today. Boyd is too 'static' and Behan's clever flicks and lay-offs were therefore wasted.

I think Charlton will be top 2 at the end of the season so 2-0 today was no disgrace.

I think if Mcsweeney had took his chance in the first half we would have had at least a point today. I also think we had enough chances/half chances, to win the game, boyd had one sweeney had one and behan had 2 freekicks. overall i think we done decent today, but its a matter of taking your chances.

there were far too many negative comments coming from so called fans in what is the first home game of the season

charlton weren't as good as some people are suggesting....they didnt create many clear cut chances (like us) but our heads sunk after the mistake from haslam i think with the underhit back pass header....(people were moaning as soon as collins mishit it into the air, probably not helping).

Ditto to everyone else, behan looks a find, clever hold up striker.....boyd needs time (he was like this last time remember)....Hartley didnt have an easy task against someone who has good pace....wont come up against a pacy winger like sam every game

We can't have a luxury like Sweeney in the midfield as he is not involved enough in the game, seriously went backwards since the playoff final season

Final comment, Flinders hard to really give a good rating but very commanding when needed, quick off his line....no involvement in 2 goals at all

Yes improvements are needed, Brown fully fit will be a huge improvement as we all know but this is more than half the team new and it will take time to gel

Why didnt Behan shoot then, he had all day. Would have thought he would have lashed it home.

Charlton never got out of 2nd gear and they still had way more than us IMO. They did not try and create many chances once they went 2-0 up as they did not have to! They were content to see the game fizzle out.

I honestly thought charlton were the best side I have seen in league 1 since QPR demolished us. They also looked more solid than the premier league sides who we played last season.

passing it about doesnt mean they are a class side.....QPR and Plymouth that season were a mile ahead of Charlton and every side that has been in this league when we have

they didnt look amazing considering how many of our players had off days (likes of monkhouse, sweeny (again) and others were a bit off the pace)

you're making them sound like world beaters, they certainly weren't that....look at the stats, we had more possession and the same shots on target...wouldn't exactly say they give us the beating you lot are making out

i dont know how we managed more possession as everytime i seen the ball charlton had it sctatchinghead as for shots on target, its what goes in the net that counts

we didnt play too badly, but charlton will win this league by quite a few points IMO

i didnt realise we had more possession until i checked

i don't think they will win it, they may do but we haven't seen enough teams to suggest that...got to remember leicester never impressed apart from the johnstones paint in the 3 games i watched us play them as well as when they were on tv....but they won the league

peterbrough never looked tht good yet got 2nd
