Great final day. I thought we'd blown it when Colly went but Jimmy & Monty saw it through.

The Aussies seem to be managing to bat on the wicket. You all seem to be forgetting we managed to cobble together 435 in our first innings (quite a score considering the contribution from the "specialist" batsmen). I think we'll be ok ...well we should be shouldn't we.. :uhoh:

Told yer we'd draw... long live the optomists.... rolfl rolfl mind you those specialists didn't do much again.. thank fuck for the Durham Lad..(maybe we need more Durham Lads in for the next test)

Yes another example of boring test cricket

By the way Pontings captaincy was garbage in that last hour, why did he bowl Marcus North when Hilfenhaus hadn't bowled for ages? To get the overs in? I don't think Monty would have played him with as much ease as he bowled straight all game. Johnson was also very poor with the new ball and bowled for far too long.

I don't reckon there's a greater site in World sport than Ricky Ponting's gutted face.

At 17 for 2 I predicted it would be over for tea today. I'm delighted I was wrong and hope that this has wound the Ozzy's down a bit and wound England up. At least England aren't one down in the series which is a bloody miracle.

Hallelujah to that.

It felt like a win in the end. Their bowlers should have finished the job, but weren't up to it. The Aussies will be deflated at not winning.

Lets just hope our batsmens actually do their job from now on

clappp clappp clappp for Collingwood, Anderson and Monty.

I'd go with that happily. I'd have a lot more confidence in that lot getting 20 wickets than our current 5

Concurring.

But there are too many Northerners in there, the stuffed suits would never sanction it.

I've just heard him whining about us sending out the 12th man late on. Apparently we sent out a new pair of gloves for Jimmy with a drink when he put the new pair of gloves on the 12th man 'accidently' spilt the drink on them rolfl So more had to brought next over, and the physio came out as well rolfl Going off it he was getting on his high horse about 'spirit of the game' and such like as if the Aussies are fooking angels.

Was it in the spirit of the game earlier when Siddle was abusing Swann? Was it? I love Pontings sour grapes, he looks like a slightly more retarded version of George W Bush every day.

What is his problem with our 12th men? Bring back Gary Pratt I say, that would really boil his piss.

Was it in the 'spirit of the game' when he tried to claim a catch, after the LBW was turned down, that didn't go anywhere near the bat.

Exactly, the way he goes on you'd think they were whiter than white.

I tell you what was in the spirit of the game Ricky, you giving Marcus North the ball late on  What would you rather face Monty, someone hurling it down at 90MPH or a part time off spinner, it's a tough one

Maybe that's the answer, he was feeling sorry for us, and let us have the draw, to make the series more interesting.

I don't think so.

The only ones that showed any backbone were Collingwood, Pannasar and Swann. And two of them showed no backbone at all with the ball.

And the other is a genuinely over rated player.

I wouldnt worry too much about the jellyfish just yet.

We lost 19 wickets on what will probably be the easiest batting track all summer, and yet you all seem happy to keep the top six.

And that was against the worst aussie bowling attack in donkeys years.

Thank fook it rained on saturday. rolfl

What alterations would you make to the top 6 then Dibbs. You wouldn't touch Pietersen or Colly. Bopara deserves his chance after the winter. Strauss is the captain and also in good form in the winter. Prior is the only wickie in England who can hold a bat, he also had a decent knock in the first innings. I can't think of a suitable replacement for Cook. So...what is it?

I would go for Boycott, Atherton, Tavare, and Randall. :coool:

OK it would be boring, but at least they wouldnt get out.

Seriously................No idea. :uhoh:

I just think the aussie batsman showed up our batsmans lack of professionalism. And Bottle.

Joe Denly possibly stephen moore in for Cook, Harmison in for Panesar. Maybe put in onions for broad but id give him another go. What about steven davies as a wicketkeeper replacement for prior?

Changing the whole spine of the team what you are asking for isnt going to happen and shouldnt. We have a better middle order and people who can actually do the buisness especially with flintoff at 7. We will be ok with the current 6 at the top of the order, they just need to stop playing stupid shots without a straight bat in the next test.

Anyone else hear Michael Parkinson's comments on the cricket (and golf) on the today programme this morning. I thought he was getting to be a bit of an old duffer but he was shihit hot with relevant comments especially as regards whinging ossies and underarm bowling tactics against New Zealand.

I don't think that's the case at all Broad has been named in the Notts 13 to play Durham as have Onions and Harmison for Durham so I don't think Broad is nailed on to play in the slightest.

TalkSport said this was the case earlier. They also said Ian Bell had been released from the squad.

He could bat tomorrow and bowl in the Durhams second innings if England don't pick him Notts will just have to sub one player out of the eleven.

This has been the case with released England players for a few years. On the same hand Durham could bin off Claydon and play Harmison or Onions in the same way.

It is also something I don't agree with. You should have to stick with the 11 players you start with. If you miss out because of England duty - tough.
