And Wigan one-nilled themselves all the way to the championship that season. Championship of the Division that is. Which put them in the Championship. Which wasn't yet the Championship.

The record I think for not conceding a goal is 12 matches for Chelsea in 2004-05 but the ninth match was a goalless draw. In 1979-80 Reading went 11 games, but the second, fifth and seventh games were all goalless. Last season Liverpool won ten in a row, and the only player to score against them was James Beattie in the ninth game.

So we still have a short way to go to beating even some more records John.

Which I'm sure we'll do.

So, katcha if we win on Saturday without conceding a goal, we will be the finest in-form team in English football history

At the moment we are only equal

Actually when you think about it blows your mind.

The Football League has been on the go since 1888 and we are only the third team to do this, think of the way people used to perceive Hartlepool United back in the old days and to think we now share this record, forget about all of those re-elections!!

Amazing when you look back to Novembers doom and gloom, and the premature stick Danny Wilson got!!!

Hate to say this and I know I'm pissing on the party but if you're brutally honest you'll realise that most people still think of us as a 4th division team, and in the 4th division records don't count, even if we win 20 on the bounce.

The only way out is to get into the Championship and stay there and claim plenty of well known scalps in the process. It is possible for a club to change the way it is perceived, as Watford and Wigan have shown, but it's rare. Look at Oldham or Swindon who were in the premiershite - how do people regard them now?

There's a lot of work still to do and we're slowly getting there. But seasons like last season are capable of undoing everything.

Nevertheless, if Southend can win the league and Scunthorpe (of all teams!) can be top, the door is wide open for us too.
