9 greenpeace members have taken over a coal freighter to prevent it unloading its coal. Surely this is an act of Piracy and doenst that face a jail sentance, or will they get a slap on the wrists like they always do.

I agree that they have a right to protest but they are preventing people doing their jobs and should be arrested asap.

I believe in this current economic climate, with a african american president in the white house, gordon brown prime minister, the price of news papers ruining our economy, Team GB riding high and our eurovison success still in the minds of our citizens....

That it's actually ok

I think the whole point of such Greenpeace actions is exactly that: to get arrested, make the headlines, and so grab the widest possible audience to state their case to.

I know a lot about their philosophy and policies as I used to often chat with a Greenpeace worker (yes, they are fully-fledged employees), their Paris office being just above a pub I frequented. He was a lovely guy but one of the biggest pains in the arse I've ever met. His pain-in-the-arseness was however not Greenpeace-related.

As an example of the sort of stuff he got up to, one day he said he'd been welding the doors of a container shut. Before doing so Greenpeace informed the police and press and both duly turned up, and he was duly issued a writ or whatever they call it.

Come on...you know that if someone dresses themselves in the green agenda, they are above even divine retribution...If you or me try it, we'll be picked off by snipers ....let them try it in North Korea and then I'll listen to them.

When I went to get me season ticket, I suddenly realised that that's just what the other people in the queue were. Middle class, professional types. They only dress up as Millhouse Moaners on Saturdays.

The probably off set the carbon footprint by planting a few trees. And for good measure they go and give a seagull a shampoo a cuddle up to some baby foxes. Bugger people trying to earn some money and keep their family life ok these people want you to survive on air and soya beans with a grass skirt and hemp jumper.

Like the idiots who dont believe in vaccine testing but I bet when they are ill or have a bad head from drinking to much elderflower beer they reach for the asprin and other medication

one of our scientific experimental officers was also a member of Greenpeace - a bit of an incongruous existence at the time

You should be flattered to be tainted with a Snowy brush. He doesn't take just anyone under his wing.

Greenpeace don't bother me. Organisations like theirs are what help stop the creation of Sci-Fi, horror-future scenarios. They don't have much success on sweeping issues so you won't have to worry about the quality of your sweaters for a long time yet; but the marginal successes they do enjoy help improve the quality of many people's lives.

Of course, if some people think biodiversity (for example) is a luxury then there's no arguing with them. There's no law against being oblivious or selfish.
We'll just see how their grandkids get on.
