1) Loan out all of our most promising players for the full season to isolate them from the Pools dressing room rot.
2) Bring in a load of competent journeymen for the season. Finish mid table.
3) Release all the remaining players whose contracts are now up.
4) Bring all the promising players back and complete the team with good new players.
5) Make a brand new start.

OK I know it's not very practical but it's a good a plan as any other I can think of.

I think its a bit more simple that that that, there are a number of reasons I can think of but top of my list is complencency - particularly from the likes of Barron and Humphreys.

Newell was clearly a good manager, he has proven that at Luton and he intimated that there was a dressing room problem. Cooper left after player power did for him. Scott left after the players literally fought him. Do these sound like a load of coincidences to you?

It seems that some of the dressing room believe themselves to be above being told what to do; I've voiced my thoughts on here more than once and I have seen nothing to disprove them. I agree that we need a clear out and I'd start with the players who have been here too long:

Barron, Humphreys, Tinkler, Williams E. Add to that list Bullock and Proctor for different reasons.

Appoint Bolland as Captain. he is alledged to be more than capable of kicking arse so give him the authority to do it. Put him in the middle of the park irrespective of his fitness level, we need a leader out there.

The back four of Williams, Nelson, Clark and Brackstone or another of the young lads are capable of holding their own in this league so let them do it and give the new left back a decent run in the team.

Goals are our problem and I don't see any sign of Porter and Brown gelling. Both are good players but they are too lightweight together. We need a big ugly centre forward in the Howard/Conlon mould.

Surpise suprise we end up needing a left back and a centre forward. The rest of the team I believe are fine with the exception of the shop stewards - they need getting shot of.

I also agree that we are in for a season of rebuilding and consolidation. forget booking any hotels in Cardiff this season.

No idea why but he hasn't been signed to make the tea. Judging by his reputation and reports from other clubs, he takes no shit and is a leader of men. 'If you're captain isn't strong enought then Bolland will step in' was the actual words.

by all accounts he went on trial at grimsby who had a good look and said thanks but no thanks. we sign the bloke on the back of the same reccomendation from cardiff we got with bullock. no trial period, no watching him reserve games, just " there you go mate, have a contract and a barrow of cash. whats that? yr not fit? no worries. give us a shout when you feel up to it and we will make you captain."

Not ONE of the current squad have the balls to be captain, there isnt a leader amongst them

At home agains Torquay it took him 70mins + and a good kicking for him to get the team going, we need someone who can do it from the off

Micky Nelson looks the part of captain...end of story. Did Richie get the job for his media friendly post match interview skills...? because it can't be for his leadership qualities on the pitch, which are non existent and anonymous.

I don't think Nelson is Captain material either. A good defender yes but he is quieton the pitch generally.

Humphreys as captain? Don't make me laugh! He bursts into tears all the time. By the way, when was he made captain? ermm about the time everything went pear shaped perchance ?

Hopefully Bolland can stay injury free and start organising this rabble on the pitch.
