You don't have to be up someone's arse to wish him well, surely?? sctatchinghead sctatchinghead

Isn't democracy about voting for the candidate that you think is the best man for the job?? Or voting for anything dressed in red if you don't know any better?? And if your man wins aren't you supposed to be happy about it?? confised

Come on Kev, it's been like a Stuart Drummond 'love in' on here lately! Plus the fact, i dont think folk would have been as supportive of him had he never worn that monkey suit! I have no axe to grind with the lad (i've never met him). There just seems to more than a few SD 'brown nosers' on here of late

I have met him on several occasions and he always seemed a level headed person with the best interests of the town at heart. he hasn't forgot he's one of us and never will. From the candidates presented I felt he was the best option. I wanted him to win for that reason and that reason alone. Wanting the team or person you support to win quite a normal emotion . As for voting for someone because they wear a red rosette..don't get me started on that..

I really don't see it Mr Tait. His supporters declared their support that's all. From a personal point of view I think it's refreshing to have a Mayor devoid of party loyalties. I wish the parties would all implode. They way they foist candidates on the electorate, regardless of loyalties to the area, is revolting. That slug of an MP was given a 'safe seat.' Safe because the electorate of Hartlepool slavishly tick the labour box whether or not it says Hitler. A (Lab). Stuart doesn't do that and it can only be good for the local populace that the Mayor is a real live approachable bloke, most importantly a Hartlepudlian. He's got absolutely no chance of dodging the issues, and that's something that no-one has yet picked up on.

Congratulations Stuart!

It was a pleasure to be present in the early hours of this morning 3:41am to witness Stuart make history by securing his 3rd term of office! It was also priceless to see the look on the faces of the Labour Party members securing 3rd place!

Well done also to Mayor Drummond in beating a runner of Tony Morrell's class in a straight race!

As for the runnner up I'm afraid it was once again a case of Taxi For Cameron

Politicians have no morals, and this has been highligted recently with the exposure of the gravy train. I was a labour supporter but have voted for Mr Drummond [INDEPENDENT] since he took up the cudgel and like Mr ECG I have approached him on a matter which i must say was dealt with instantly to my satisfaction.

It's votes that count so well done to SD...... I personally think that someone fresh would have more of an impact though.

i just think the bloke was a better H'Angus than he was at being Mayor, however SD has an opportunity to clean up the town, he is used to the role now so he has to start delivering. i would also like him to develop a bit of charisma and actually sound like a mayor when he appears in public or on tv.....

But SD doesn't say anything important usually, his interviews generally state the obvious or he sits on the fence - is a bit of charisma, belief and drive too muc to ask...?f

Sweeny will never make a footballer either... rolfl rolfl

Look he's one of us if he stops being one of us people will turn their backs on him and vote for someone else... FACT

His whole attraction is that he's not so far up his own arse, he doesn't spend his time geting paid again for public speaking making personal appearances and getting his mug TV. He takes time to help out the "normal, hardworking people of Hartlepool" when he's asked and thats why he's got re-elected.

Oh and he's on my facebook.... rolfl rolfl

At least get your first point right - i said Sweeney was rubbish in the centre of midfield and i stand by that, too inconsistant and the game passes him by. Saying that he played well in the first half in the first half against Millwall last season but disappeared for the last half hour. - You will never find a post where i have slagged him off when he has played right back as I think he is decent there.....

Secondly I can't remember any of your opinions regarding Pools...

Thirdly - he doesn't do a lot of public speaking because he isn't very good at it.....!

Well point taken, all I'm saying is that perhaps they come down the list a bit. We've listened to the Government spouting shite for eleven years and they've done it with fantastic panache. It's like Gordon Brown saying he is the man to lead us out of recession when in fact what he did do was lead us into it. stpid stpid

We dont want him to be a great public speaker.

We want him to be himself and do his best for the town.

We dont want another politician. We have one too many of those already.

Why does somebody showing support have to be a "Brown Noser"?? Grow up FFS. Most people would have different reasons for voting. Personally I voted for him because when my Mrs approached him last year about a very delicate Education issue in the town, he got off his arse and TRIED to do something about it. Sadly, because of a decision that had already been made elsewhere, he couldn't actually help us but in the two meetings we had with him he pulled his puddings out to do so. Its hardly his fault that our Council is full of smug cretins.

precisely !!!!!!! Politics is wick with resentment, Mandelson was seething in 2002, well f-ck him!! They never thought it possible that Labour could lose anything in Hartlepool - well they also lost their overall majority in the last elections, so it's a step in the right direction!!
I understand people like Cameron trying to oust Labour all these years here - they are complacent, and arrogant with the fact they have always been elected previously!!!
I genuinely believe some councillors in this town have merely aligned themselves to Labour to ensure they are voted in!! Being councillors is all that matters to them!! Some of them would become Tories tomorrow if they thought that would get them elected!!!

public speaking? The speaker of the House of Commons hardly covered himself in glory recently - and if that's the benchmark for public speaking then really your point has just been well and truly blown out of the water. Irrelevant!!!

Prince Harry on his recent visit to New York and ground zero made a
speech and read it all directly from hand held prompt cards, hardly glancing up
to acknowledge the gathered crowd, I found this quite appalling someone
of his position and education having to do this!

Well done once again SD

A lot of people are mates with Drummond who post on here, nothing has been posted that is brown nosing him- that much is bollox. Just people on here understandably want him to win and not see him out of job.

We want him to be himself and do his best for the town.

We dont want another politician. We have one too many of those already.

Foookin hell. banghead

Whats this 'we' shite?

If Pools still don't own the ground when the next election comes around will you banging his drum, so to speak.....?

Why does everyone give a fck about IOR owning the ground? I really don't see the obsession and what difference it'll make to anything.

Well, I understand that there's still something that's blocking 'Pools regaining ownership of the ground.

Is there ? What is actually happening with that ?

cos the moment they own the ground they instantly start bulldozing stands and spending millions on players.

I've just walked past pools, there we're 2 jcbs outside the back of the rink end, ken hodcorft was on his mobile, i seen him dial the councils number...

Everyone's just waiting, as we speak for the council too sell!
