DIMI KONSTANTOPOULOS will remain a Coventry City player for the immediate future, contrary to reports suggesting he was set to sign for his former club Hartlepool United today.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper has been the subject of an inquiry regarding a six-month loan deal, but it is understood the Sky Blues are in no rush to do a deal for the player who has a year left on his contract.

Konstantopoulos had loan spells at Swansea and Cardiff this season after recovering from a ruptured Achilles and is keen to get first team football, a situation that is unlikely while first choice Keiren Westwood is in his way.

Hartlepool’s director of sport Chris Turner has been tracking Konstantopoulos for the past month but nothing is expected to happen until City get a more permanent understudy in as cover for Westwood, the club clearly not wanting to leave themselves short in case the Republic of Ireland keeper gets injured.

Coventry also want to keep their options open in case they get offers from clubs who want to buy the keeper rather than take him on loan.

All I saw was someone saying the move had stalled because Coventry wanted him to be a permanent transfer and wouldn't pay his wages?

The story above suggests Coventry are unwilling to let him go due to lack of cover.
