I bet your upset the season ended when it did and 'Pools aren't in the play-offs.

Doesn't sound right, does it ? Oh well, there's always next year.

Mind you I shall have to keep an eye on the Leeds vs. Millwall score whilst the 2nd Semi-Final's on BBC3 Thursday, if not tape the game watch it later.

Can we keep the discussion strictly eurovision in here please.

The title of the thread does imply this.

Well, there's nothing to say yet, until the first Semi-Final on Tuesday night...

Apart from the bookies have got us at odds of 50/1 to get nul points, 16/1 to win outright.

I've heard some good things about us, but I'll wait until next Saturday.

It's OK - the UK, France, Germany and Spain automatically qualify for the final because they contribute the most money towards theproduction of the Contest to the EBU each year.

It's a rule that some in Europe aren't happy about, and we're very lucky in my opinion to qualify that way, otherwise in the last few years we would have risked relegation out of the Contest and competing in the semi-finals.

Oh Yeah!!! Eurovision! I love it. Unfortunately it won't be the same without Terry, but am willing to give Graham Norton a chance.....we shall see!!! Anyway, it's not about the songs it's all about the commentary and the political scoring.

To be honest, I preferred Wogan the way he was in the 90s and when he hosted it in Birmingham in 1998 to the grumpy grandfather figure he became in his final years. His recent comments about the Contest haven't helped cement his rightful place in our history.

As for the songs, there were a good few of them last year I thought were really good and should have placed higher. Hopefully this new system of 50% jury, 50% televote should help even things up. We could even profit from this new change as I've heard some pretty good things about our song this year - I think we coulld be on for a good finish if things go well for us - I'm saying that more in hope rather than in expectation, nelson.

Graham Norton wasn't my choice straight away to take over, but having watched us select our song, he's funny and smart but not as condescending as Wogan was recently.

Nelson: Semi-Final 1: Tuesday, 8pm, BBC3 (We can vote for songs in this one)
Semi-Final 2: Thursday, 8pm, BBC3 (We can't vote in this one)
Grand Final: Saturday, 8pm, BBC1 (Everybody can vote)

POK, we are only in it because we have an automatic place, we have no chance of winning, I don't know why we try. It's much more fun with entries likes Ireland's last year.

This years song sounds just like every other Andrew Lloyd Webber song, and the singer needs to learn how to breathe, but maybe that is in our favour.

NEVER SAY DIE

Now I liked Ireland, but for the sake of the Contest hitting a new low, we need to start phasing those kind of entries out, which we have done.

And isn't that a good thing though that it sounds like an ALW song ? If it does, it will sound good.

As for Jade, the more negative feedback I've read is more about the song but they say she's a fantastic singer.

I believe that class will shine through eventually.

I take no interest in the Eurovision at all (honest) but came across this on the BBC's football gossip...

Angry Chelsea supporters want to get their own back on Norwegian referee Tom Henning Ovrebo, who made a number of controversial decisions in the Blues' Champions League semi-final, second leg against Barcelona. They have set up an internet campaign to stop Norway winning the Eurovision song contest.

That'll teach those Norwegians - hit them where it hurts, in the Eurovision clappp

Yep, that'll hurt 'em. They're not used to getting "zero points" are they.

Well, yloop, I know it hasn't been in the last few years, that's why changes were brought in to the voting to try and stop that.

This year, we'll see if it works.

My Dad joked sometime last week about a possible revenge plan by Chelsea supporters would be not to vote for Norway in Eurovision. When I heard that then, I laughed and I said to him "That is probably the most childish thing I have heard".

Now my worst fears have been confirmed, I can not believe that some Chelsea supporters would be thick enough to even think about stooping to that level. But it's that kind of activity which makes me ashamed to be British and I don't think they deserve to call themselves to be British. If anything significant were to arise from this, this stupid minority would be letting all of us down.

The bad news with this juvenile protest is that news has already reached Norway about this plan and some Norweigians might feel as if they would like to reciprocate the boycott. However, I believe and hope the majority of Norweigans as well as the majority here in the UK to be above that and judge a song not by the nationality of a singer, but by the quality of the singer.

Norway has a population of just under 5 million - they are a tightly, knit community where word probably spreads quickly. We should be looking at some of these small countries and trying to persuade them through only our song for them to vote for the UK, otherwise this whole charade could cost the UK on Saturday, particularly if we are in a strong position as the votes are announced.

Yes, we have a lot to learn from the Norwegians, despite their recent parlimentary crisis. I guess their country could do with a bit of cheering up and it's not by knocking their No.1 referee that things are going to get better.

That last thread he put up was a master stroke of pure POK genius, he was on top form there.

If his worst fear is the 4 or 5 norweigens who give a toss about eurovision boycotting the brits then this guy has a seriously easy life.

My worst fear at 19 was not having a bird to take home with me from the weslash at 2am.

Well, it was meant be a figure of speech, but then again, in terms of a needless boycott on something which is completely different than football, it doesn't come more horrifyingly stupid than boycotting the Eurovision entry of a country where the referee came from.

I really can't believe that people would stoop to that level.

There must be some riveting conversations in the Kent household, Worls War III could erupt but they'd continue to debate the important things ... like Eurovision and the X factor....even the wallapaers given up hope and peeled off the walls just to escape. stpid

Eurovision comes but once a year, Snowy - and it just so happens the world has revolved on its axis one more and that time has come again, the football season has finished, the Contest's first Semi Final tonight and the entrance of the UK on Saturday.

As Shakespeare once wrote, "Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more...".

You know it's usually at this time when people "stumble" today upon the fact that it's Eurovision on Saturday night, some people in this country usually reply "God, is is that time of the year already ? It'll be Christmas soon !!!", or something ridiculous like that.

Depending on what happens on Saturday, we might be having this debate again sometime in May 2010.....after 'Pools have won League One that is.
