Exactly why i voted boro.

If newcastle win tonight they have the advantage of another home game and then a trip to a villa team whose season is already over.

Hull city face man utd on the last day so there is good as down if the geordies win.

If newcastle lose tonight, at home to boro, it will kill them, they won't recover from that.

I want a draw, both teams to go down and a late surge from WBA & Hull City to send the Mackems back to their true level.

Enough of this boring provincialism. :coool:
I say Boro..because Mr Southgate is articulate, committed, personable and intelligent, and people like him ought to be rewarded (especially in the football world where they are very rare).

I voted for the bar-codes as they seem to have helped us out more in the past than the other two 'big' sides up here.

In my humble opinion there should be more mutual assistance between the five (or four now?) north-east clubs. What was once the hotbed of football is now in a sorry state. For instance I wouldn't be averse to Pools putting on a friendly against Darlo to raise some money for them - if they still have a team in July there is no reason why we shouldn't organise a friendly with them.

Newcastle: I know a Geordie who lives down here and wouldn't want to see him upset.

I can't believe 10 years ago Newcastle United were in the FA Cup Final. :uhoh:

Middlesbrough are just poor, Southgate deserved to be sacked ages ago and in the Second Round of the Carling Cup there could be the opportunity to draw them at home.

Wouldn't it be great if we could beat them ! clappp clappp

A draw ideally, but if forced to, Necastle. I'd like to see them both relegated, but I want to not just bury the borers, but put a massive slab of concrete on top as well. ... and of course imagine it if they secaped, Brownlee would be insufferable.

Boring provincialism... ? hardly, these are the Premiership and would gladly see clubs like Pools, ground into the dirt.
As for Southagte, remarkable qualities and if you were basing managing a football team on them, the Premiership would be managed by the countries top academics, which they aren't, which is why his team is equal bottom. Long may his 'reign' continue.

Is it possible for them to both lose.

I cannot answer this question. I want them both to lose very very badly.

But.........and it pains me to say it.............but I agree with snowy. Not that its a pain to agree with snowy, but it is a pain to even think about wanting the thick geordie bounders to win.

OK I agree with Snowy, too. But I agree with myself also...... it's Venn diagrams again. Boro is in the premiership circle but it's in other circles as well.

And I do get bored with everyone saying how they hate the premiership. Fringe actors don't hate the RSC for having more funds than they do. It's just life.

Wanna bet ...in every walk of life, everyone thinks they can do the job better than the one at the top, actors are the worst of the bunch, that's why they're actors, they pretend they don't care.

It's written in the stars that the mugs will stay up, regardless of tonight's result.

Shearer will achieve legendary status, there'll be scenes of deluded geordies celebrating like they've won the Champions League, and poor Browny will probably get sacked by Hull as they take the third relegation spot.

Although it won't happen, I would prefer the mugs to go down as there are far more plastic barcodes in the town than smoggy wannabes.

It can't be said enough in my opinion. Mr Mad John recently posted on here how the greedy feckers shafted the league, effectively sowing the seeds for the administrations of clubs like Darlo, Rotherham, Stockport, Wrexham, Bournemouth, Luton etc etc.

If it wasn't for IOR I doubt we'd be in the league at all.

People seem to forget that Luton were founder members of the Premier League, so I don't think they belong in that list.

I'd disagree, this town is full of plastic mags, all still clinging onto the keegan era from the 90's

I overheard a conversation in Tescos car park this morning, one woman talking to another and caught... " well we're all Newcastle in our house...." which means .... we adopted a team on the telly, never seen them play ever, but we have the shirts ... so it'll pizzas round the wide screen teily tonight I'd imagine
Can't the rules be changed just for tonight so it's no points for a no goal less draw.

They are unquestionably more noticeable in the town than Boro fans. The mags have always been more into decking themselves out in the club colours. I rarely see Boro shirts in the town.
Oh they're coming out alright, Tescos of a weekend is popular....driving through Seaton yesterday tea time, pulled up near the green, on one side we ad the house with the boro flag in the upsatirs window and oppsite was a white Transit covered in boro badges...so offensive I took a photo of it.

A draw would be good.

Sandcastle to lose if not. I hate them! HATE THEM. rage

Sandcastle fans are like thick Man U fans. They support them as they may become a big club so that if they are successful they can say we're not a glory supporter because we supported them before they were famous. The sad thing is that they've won fook all for ages and don't look like doing so any time soon.

There's an alarming number of Sandcastle fans in Leeds who have absolutley no connect to Sandcastle of the north east. I've asked them why they support them and they say it's cause "we've got the most passionate fans in the world" and some of them even put on a fake geordie accent. I'm not kidding.

I'm sure if they were a none Premiership team after a few years they'd be getting crap attendences.

I really despise them.

I remember a Sandcastle fan taking the piss out of Pools when we got relegated. I'm not a violent person (really I'm not) but the next chance I got I smacked him one.

I HATE them.

Newcastle United totally baffle me, I've seen kids in their shirts the length of the country, I once saw two one evening in Beer in Devon and from their accents were definitely from Devon. Which beggars the question, what exactly is their popularity as such based on....? It certainly isn't on achievements, because they've won sod all for years, so the only remaining answer is pure undiluted hype. They have to be the world leaders in marketing their .... potential, they've been getting away with it for years and oddly enough no ones questioned it. Funny old game innit?

They avoided the question. The question was "why do you support Newcastle if you don't come from there". The answer is usually along the lines of "we've the most passionate fans in the world".

The media will never question it. They are part of the hype machine.

I remember a few seasons ago when we were top and featured on football Night and they asked a newspaper editor what he thought about our unbeaten run and he said "if you look at the north east, their fans are so passionate. You only have to go into Newcastle to see how passionate their fans are" and that was it. He'd turned a question about Pools into a programme section about Sandcastle.

Newcastle has cornered the market in selling itself as the great untapped football resource waiting to be fired into life and take the Premiership by storm. Sadly, the drawback with this plan is that they haven't.. therefore the black and white foot soldiers and assorted mercenaries act as cover for their not just under achieveing, but never achieving team. They'd turn up at St james to see Shearers dog crap. like Spike on the Tom and Jerry cartoons jumping up the tree, they act out of instinct and jump when ordered to, it's bred into them. They're not passionate, just thick.
