I hope they manage to sort things out and manage to stay in League 2 next year to be honest. Would rather have them in our league than non league.

Its all about laughing last.. They're not even our rivals anymore and haven't been for ten years..

Shit Ground, Shit Fans... I remember them shouting that at us as well..

Bet they'll all go and support their first love the boreo's now..

I for one will shed no tears if they disappear into non-league ..

Can we have York back instead....

stpid Maybe I am

But they've got what deserve..

None of them came out to help "their" club when they had the chance..

So I can't see why should we care what happens to them!

Fact is it could happen to any club. Were lucky to have IOR but if they got rid and someoen like GR bought us then we could be in the same position. I fail to find it funny that a club a similar size to us is about to fold especially our rivals and the first team we look for the fixture list for (when they are in our division obviously) and the team we always want to draw in a cup.

And with regard to their fans saying they are on the way up etc. That happens in all rivalries and im pretty sure we have said the same to them at some point but they will have finished above us. Does that mean we deserve to go out of business too?

You know, some people on here took the piss out of Leeds for singing about Man Utd and Chelsea, as if they were still there rivals. I think people who think Darlo are our rivals are just as bad. stpid

If they're not our rivals anymore, why get so aroused at their apparent demise? Fact is, your prejudices against the loids are based on the ability of a few messageboard gobshites to wind you up. Do you really think the average darlo fan s represented by the likes of DJ...? The irony of this is that darlo, the football club offered no threat to us as an entity. their demise however has opened up a new recruiting ground for the local Premiershit franchise holders over the coming years. YOUR THAT BUSY BLOWING OUT THE CANDLES ON YOUR CELEBRATION CAKE YOU FORGOT TO NOTICE THE HOUSE IS ON FOOKIN FIRE..... SEE THE BIGGER PICTURE LADS.

Local??? As it stands at least one hopefully all three (we can dream) of the "local" premiershit teams will be plying their trade in the Chimpionship next season and maybe a few seasons to come.. Maybe we can rise to challenge next season and join them! (another dream maybe but you never know)

i dont agree with this whole 'it can happen to anyone' thing. How many clubs are stupid enough to have a patheticly big stadium which drains the finances. 3 year ago this should have been noticed and dealt with. They ignored it and its their own fault. Any club that has financial problems has them because they try to live above their means. Hats off to hereford united, 4 year in a row they have finished the year in profit.

A lot of them "support" Boro anyway.

They're hardly alone there though are they. Listen to the cheers at halftime at Pools when it's announced that the mags, scouse or 'yoo are winning.

... and there's a lot more boro suporters appearing in Hartlepool over the last couple of years too, they seem to like Teaco's, which would explain the special boro cakes they sell (FACT). but it's nice to clear the 'little clubs' out of the way to free up the market and we aren't on a lifetime guarantee.

Why should I get any more excited about playing Sunbarcodeland than playing Leeds or Leicester?
As far as Darlo goes, I've listened to everyone and fail to see why at worst they just don't give a fook. sctatchinghead

Tree, I've not exactly been a fan of yours over the years, but right now, if I had a hat on I'd be taking it off for you. Us and Darlo have more in common than most on either side might care to admit in terms of size, fanbase, history etc, the main difference between us now can be traced back to Sir Harold and then his decision to sell to IOR, both of whom have done far better by us than the majority of owners in the lower leagues over the last decade; the rivalry is waning due to a relative lack of recent meetings, but only when the crowd stops singing songs about them and the majority of Poolies stop looking to see if they've lost will it be dead.... and I feel for the majority of Loids who will be feeling the same sort of things now as I did towards the end of the Gibson era, when there were last serious doubts about our own survival - bleak despair, anger, and bewilderment that this has been allowed to happen. Like you, I find little to laugh at.

The saddest thing is, the town of Darlington just doesn't seem to care. Nornmally in these situations the club gets some local support and it helps to get them back from the edge on oblivion.

What worries me is that, god forbid, we got into trouble - would the town of Hartlepool support the club? sctatchinghead

We'd make it work. This Club is worth something to all of us, unlike the Loids.

I can't believe in one sense nobody hasn't been interested in buying the Club....mind you with that White Elephant of a Stadium to fill, I can see why some people would find it pretty tough. rolfl

No, there'd be lots of what a pity, but I suspect that those following footy outside the Premiership are lookd on as odd... A popular reply I have come to detest is when they ask you how much it costs to go to a match, followed by ..."WHAAAAT! YOU ARE JOKING!!" ....

All I can say is thank God Internet message boards didn't exist back in the Gibson days when we had to wait for radio or TV news to find out if we had a club left to support, I honestly think that if Pools had been on the brink of going out of business this and every other Pools site would be unbearable.

I do feel sympathy for true fans of Darlo like Quakerz,Saarf and Teeside Quakerz but as a regular reader of their Rivals site they seem to have much more dickhead than almost any other team barring Leeds & Swindon.

If they go bust then so be it, they only have one person to blame and that is George the First, so then RIP Darlo it's been fun meeting you and with a bit of luck Boro's decline will continue and they will become our new rivals.

The question, in response to my saying I support Hartlepool, was "but which Premier League team do you support?"

It's genuinely the first time I have been asked this.

On Wednesday, when the Manyoopubfan elite were drooling over the forthcoming final with Barcelona and trying to reassure themselves they would win, I relentlessly reassured them they hadn't a cat in hell's chance and I was going down to the bookie's the next day to bet on 3-0 to Barça, etc., etc.; eventually I received the inevitable reflexion about my being a supporter of pathetic little Hartlepool bla.
I just said, Hartlepool is my town; is Manchester yours?
They thought about it for two seconds, couldn't get their heads round it, so just shut up and hoped I'd go away.

I am not like most Pools fans, I wasn't born here, only lived up here for the last 15 years after leaving the Marines and have no connection whatsoever with Pools all my family come from and loads still live in Weymouth so I guess I'm one of them glory supporting bandwagon jumpers.

I never for one moment 35 years ago that Pools would enjoy a 10 year period of stability and a fair amount of success.

Premiership money men must be loving it, capitalist market forces, destroy the small companies and the big companies pick up the pounds. Some of those poor deluded darloids who want to watch and be a part of football will become poor deluded smoggies.
Perhaps we should stop slagging them off, feel sorry for them and hope that some of them love smaller club footy and come our way. ok so the true loids would find it hard to swap allegiance but the next generation might. Come on you lot come and join the Pools. Ha ha!

I like it when they're interviewing the fans outside Old Trafford before a match ...spot the Mancunian accent.

As much as I dislike Darlow, I hope they manage to survive. I hope they really struggle and we trample all over them and we hammer them but I still want them to survive.

Who will we laugh at when they do fold?

Many teams could follow Darlow's route and people want IOR out. banghead

I'll tell you what. At the risk of annoying some well known posters on here, I think anyone who wants Darlo to disappear is pathetic. TRULY FOOKIN' PATHETIC.
You don't understand what lower league football is about and you never will. Despite our hundred years of experience of exactly that...

You don't understand what lower league football is about and you never will. Despite our hundred years of experience of exactly that...

A LOT and I mean A LOT of posters on here have changed their rattle considerably over the past few days

A few weeks back people couldn't give a fook if the Gloids went tits up, but now it looks like curtains, there is a lot of hand wringing and faux sympathy

Me?, I quite frankly couldn't give a rats turd, but I do however understand lower league football

When Pools faced going out of the league under Gash Gibson 99% of the FL clubs couldn't, wouldn't and didn't give a fook

So why should I care about Darlingboro, I didn't two weeks ago and I don't now

How DARE you say that I don't understand Lower League Football Monty? I've been watching the fooker for 38 years..I sincerley hope 1) You've had a drink and 2) An apology is forthcoming?? sctatchinghead

I think he is saying that is he sctatchinghead

He's saying that about anyone who wants Darlo to go down the pan (which you have said the opposite). I know where he's coming from as well, in the current climate if one club goes it could open the floodgates and lower league football may never be the same again.

I want Darlo to lose 10-0 every week
I want Darlo to get relegated every season
I don't want to them to be liquidated, I don't want Chester, or Barnet, or Yeovil or anyone to be for that matter as if any club is ultimately it can't be a good thing for football can it? A line in rivalry must be drawn somewhere.

Look I'm not going to pretend I'm upset or anything if it happens, it's not going to alter my sleep patterns but ANY club going out of business can not be a good thing for the game.

A few months ago I was the saying the same as you, but you need to take a step back. Deep down most Darlo fans are exactly the same as me and you, they just support their local team, for them this is a real shame.

(I suspect you will still say 'feck em' )

1) yep, I was ratarsed
2) nope, I wasn't targeting you; as far as I'm aware you aren't in the I-want-darlo-to-fold camp, are you? sctatchinghead
3) what PJ Poolie said

Anyway, no offence intended so soz if offence taken.
Personally I don't give two hoots about Darlo but I don't wish oblivion on any club except possibly Milton Keynes and totally fail to understand why some people do. I've yet to see an argument for their extinction that is born out of anything but malice. Even sober I still find that pathetic.

You're right of course, I don't see why the average Darlo fan should suffer ..... now if they were a Premiership side.............
