Somebody does usually come in unfortunately. However, much we'd like inside for DFC to die, we'd miss our derby.

It seems George II is worse than George I if that is possible. I thought he was a bit mental when he said things like "Raj Singh will attarct the Indian lads" and "we want to be in the Championship by 2000". And not forgetting "my name is spelt Haughton or Houghton, whichever you like".

No, not really. We've got Norwich, Southampton and Charlton coming to the Vic next season.

And who have you got to look forward at that great big wide open stadium of yours? Little Burton Albion.

There's a difference between banter and wanting a club to die - "However, much we'd like inside for DFC to die"

Never understood that kind of hatred from any opposition fans

Can't agree with the "want them to die" comment. Rivals? yes indeed. Got some arseholes? yes indeed but then so have we. Truth be known we are identically sized clubs with similar levels of support and historically you couldn't put a fag paper between us on the the head to heads.

Their fans are very similar to us, even the accent is similar. We both support unsuccessful football clubs and guess who you would support had you been born 20 miles down the road.

I hope they get through this.

Yes, of course I would.

All I'm saying is tht some members of this Board would be inclined to celebrate though if Darlington folded.

It's not that important to us, but I wouldn't like to see any club screwed by some chancer as darlo have been, as Wrexham were, as Rotherham, etc etc etc etc.....

Let's face it, if they leave Southgate in charge, we have more chance of playing Boro in a couple of seasons confised

For me there were no better games for atmosphere than against you guys . . . well maybe not at the cavernous Arena. My favourite away games of all time were at Victoria Park, and that includes the likes of Aston Villa, Man City, Leeds, Everton, Nottingham Forest, etc. Of course I'd like to see you hammered on the pitch by us (and on the message boards all season afterwards), that's the rivalry we need again and, if we do survive our latest megalomaniac, then I guess it'll be several years before it happens again . . . unless you get yourselves relegated.

I don't want Darlo to go bust but I kind of get the impression that it's only a matter of time. Boro on the other hand - I would be over the moon if that lot folded......

Darlow are like Mother in Laws, you might slag em off but you don't wish them any real harm. I don't base my perceptions of the club on the ramblings of a few messageboard gobshites and their wind ups. The average Darlow supporter will be no different from the average Pools supporter. it wouldn't be the same if the disappeared would it ...? They represent no threat to us or us to them, the only beneficiaries of their demise would be the Premiership franchise holders with the local bragging rights ..the boreres ...or possibly not.

You'd all be royally pissed off if you didn't have Darlo to mistreat.
You, or many of you, would be rolling in the aisles at their demise, until one day you realised that you, Pools, are now the rock bottom club in the North East, eagerly awaiting someone like Gateshead to take over as runts but procuring no real delight at the thought of turning those over because they'll never be our real Rivals.
We might not have played the 'lows very often these last seven or eight years, but just about every one of you remembers and enjoys the thought of our last match against them, and will remember it long after forgetting we knocked two premiership teams out this season.

Well once Darlo have gone you can wave occasions like that bye bye. You might think I'm talking bollocks but mark my words you'll end up regretting their disappearance if they go.

ive a lot more time for people born in darlington who support darlo than people who were born in hartlepool and support the likes of man united, liverpool, newcastle etc. at least they support their home town team.

Really?

They're like a man on his deathbed who keeps rallying, the experts gather round his bed and decide he has no prospect of a suitable quality of life and it's time to stop keeping him alive by artificial means ....it looks like flat line time as he's become an expensive burden. The family are distraught. but the estate won't go to them, someone else will get that ... Flat line time indeed......unless.....?

Dunno, but wouldn't it be nice if they let an extra team come up rathe rthan save the bacon of some outfit down the bottom who'd 'earned' relegation. Reward the achiever rather than the failure on a technicality so to speak.

Also does anyone know (possibly people older than me who have seen it happen) what would happen to the league fixtures and points awarded if Darlo go out of buisness, would the other teams get a form of a bye were they have the week off and just get zero points.

The decision on darlo whether than can go into the league must be made before the season starts surely as if people have already played them in forthcoming season won/drawn/lost then how with the FA decide on points for the teams still to play darlo, or would the just remove points gained from the Vs Darlo results.

So the points stand then, as they've fulfilled all their fixtures?
