It's been a while.

1) Swansea away. Drew 2-2 thanks to 2 from Stevie Howard. We survived by the skin of our teeth, abused Jan Molby all game for being fat, lad got nicked and missed the bus home as he got released a minute after the supporters bus decided to leave. Worst bog I've ever been to at a footie match. Ever.

2) Southend away. 1-1. This was the day Jimmy Glass scored for Carlisle against Plymouth (?). Am sure there was a wedding on the pitch at half time too. Micky Dunwell came on for his only ever minute of Pools action and in all honesty neither team really cared.

3) Hull away. 3-0. Carlsberg don't do last games of the seasons.... Awesome performance, 3 up in no time and Torquay and Cheltenham both blew it. Am sure we went 4-3-3 and even with 10 men we pissed it.

4) Rushden 1-1. Am still bitter about this one and I'm glad they barely exist anymore. Watson's last game, 1700 Pools fans and all the pubs in the town centre were shut after the match. WTF?!

5) Bournemouth 2-2. Scottys first game in charge, Quality day, boiling hot and got the point we needed. Bring on the Trannies....

6) Swanse at home, 1967-68. 11,000 ecstatic Poolies not giving a shit about the result but Pools winning anyway.

my first every away game that, was unreal

Even when strodder was wrongly sent off we still hammered them.

Was awesome hearing all the scores coming through and finding out we'd made the play offs

Peterborough away last game of the 97/98 season. 0-0 draw, me and the lads I was with got chatting to the editor of 'The Zulu' fanzine and got our pictures in the next edition. Loads of scrapping in the car-park after if I remember rightly.

Last home game of the 96/97 season. Joe Allon scored with 5 minutes to go then celebrates by chucking his sweat drenched wife beater vest into the Town End.

I wonder who the lucky punter was who got that!

We've got a very good recent record on the last day of the league season. Since 1989 we've only lost to two teams: Plymouth (twice)... and Bristol Rovers.

Eight wins and eight draws from our last 19 last day games.

Haven't won since Exeter in 2002 though confised

It's time we put that right then...Come on, 'Pools !!!! rolf rolf

That Bournemouth game a couple of seasons ago was a great day, the pub car park on the corner before the match was like a whos who from the BUnker

has nobody mentioned the most bizarre last game of the season ever ?

season 2003-2004. both sets of fans going mental with joy over a 1-1 draw, and the ref not bothering with the 3 minutes of added on time as neither side was prepared to do anything other than launch the ball into the stands for a throw in.

neither side went into the oppositions penalty area in the last 15 minutes, and every boot out for a throw in was celebrated by both sets of fans like a cup final win.

the strangest game i ever saw.

I went that day - it was persistently raining and the away stand din't have a roof but we din't give adamn and when Boydy scored, we all went MENTAL.

I had waterproof trousers on that day.

The greatest celebration of a 1-1 draw since God knows when and after the game the Swindon players clapped the away fans and I think we clapped them back.

Great scenes at the End.

Eh? We were away at Swansea the following week, I know, I just wanted to put this memory on.

James Brown, still not established in the side, nonchalantly slotted home the coolest goal you'll ever see to equalise and looked utterly dejected because he knew it was too little too late. sadx sadx

1991 - 3-1 victory over Northampton to secure automatic promotion. I never thought I would ever see the day!

2002 - 2-0 victory at Exeter to sneak in the play-offs again! I've always had a soft spot for Exeter after that, dead canny fans.

2003 - 1-1 at Rushden. Still the most gutting Pools result ever for me.

2004 - 1-1 at Swindon. Pissed wet through, great result for both sides!

2005 - 2-2 at Bornemowth (copywrite John Orley) - we get in the play-offs, they don't - ha!

2007 - 2-1 defeat at home to Bristol Rovers. The second most gutting Pools result ever for me.

Lets hope the 2009 one doesn't become memorable for any reason.
