Hertha Berlin have just launched their new home kit which is Nike and blue and white stripes. I wouldn't mind at all if Pools had this as their new shirts for next season..... obviously with our badge though!!

I got a Hertha Berlin mug I brought back from my school trip to Germany two years ago.

To be honest I prefer Porto' kit for this season - looks great that does.

There are some really great kits in the League - Wolves, Doncaster in the past, Peterborough - I think we need to have a look at changing our kit manaufacturer.

I don't like shirts with blue stripes on the front but not on the back!

I don't mean anything like Bukta or 1908 Gold or TFG Sports - I mean try and find who does a really sleek kit - Adidas, Vandenel, Joma etc.

Hertha Berlin's present kit is quite good.

Well to be honest, there's only 1 Nike kit that I really liked and that was the 2004/2005 kit.

We've never had a top-class, professional kit with blue and white stripes. I hope that changes.

You can't have a striped front and a plain back, will you be told! It's just not right. It's like numbers on cricketers' backs - what's all that about?

Having the strict kit history like we have doesn't really leave room for manoeuvre or artistic licence really.

You want the moon on a stick you do. The only good kit manufacturer we had before nike was umbro i think in 91/92. Beggars cant be choosers

I agree with dropping Nike, like. Would rather have something original, rather than a stock kit out of a catalogue which is available to every Sunday League team and is made in a sweatshop. Still think the best kits we've had are the silver 1908 Gold one from 97/98 and the Superleague one with the proper Camerons logo on the front.

Teams playing in stripes with recently class kits IMO:

Sheffield United
Sheffield Wednesday
Southampton

(Huddersfield)
(Brighton)

(Exeter)
(Lincoln)
(Grimsby)

Not many actually.

Exactly, what I was thinking, as soon as I looked at the design of the first Nike kit, I thought "That's been picked straight from a catalogue and it hasn't been tailored to an exact specification."

Grimsby had exactly the same kit, only in black, same again with the halved one that succeeded it.

We couldn't afford to have Nike commission a special one, nor could we shift enough units to make it viable. That 1908 Gold one I was on about had our badge design woven into the fabric. I also liked the 'Argentina' one from 95-97.

I like the current one, and prefer mainly white or mainly blue, the stripes just don't do it for me. Probably because for the early part of being a pools fan we had the all blue shirt, the white promotion one, the checkerboard one, the sky/navy blue umbro one then the sky/navy blue loki one. The striped efforts after that looked poor until the pinstriped white one in my opinion.

I've accepted blue and white stripes as they've been part of the modern history - nut as a kit design I've never really been keen on them. The problem is: how do you make stripes sleek and sexy, as most of the kits are today, when most of those kits are just coulred shirts or coloured all over.

I really did like the pinstripe design though, I thought that looked really smart, probably TFG's best 'Pools kit design, althought a lot of people really despised that kit.

Yeah I'm also in the (apparent) minority who found the pinstripes mint - especially coming hot on the heels of the Tesco bag like they did.

I wonder if Spall are still kicking about, my first ever Pools Kit was made by them, the dark blue one a sky blue stripe down each shoulder.

POK, the Nike kits (apart from that Orange one) are the best we've ever had, I see no need to change!

2006/07's Brazil away kit was the best away kit that I've ever seen - if it was still in stock I would have bought the shorts and socks to go with it.

True, Nike is by miles the best kit manufacturer we've ever had - it was such a surprise to see them do our kit after 1908 Gold and TFG....but I think there are a lot of other kit manufactuers on the market today that say to me we can do even better.

Good website http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/English_Football_League/index.html

If it's lasted two years, I take it you're both considering a civil partnership ....?
