If Seeger starts to sing "Little Boxes", turn it off, quickly!!

If it's 60's T-Rex, and it's "By The Light Of The Magical Moon", you've just discovered one of my favourite 60's 45's.

I don't think I've heard much by Pete Seger to tell you the truth!!!! confised

I saw Roy Orbison at Newcastle City Hall. Wayne Fontana and The Mindbenders was the support act.

The recently re-released Wilbury's 2disc and video is worth a listen and a watch and I think they were some of his last recordings.

As he got older he got better.

Yes Mr Elvis a line drawn through the Wilburys, via Tom Petty's Full Moon Fever and Del Shannon's Rock On to Roy Orbison's Mystery Girl brings you back to Mr Jeff Lynne. All great stuff!!

Got that for Xmas Frodraff, superb stuff! Yup, just a few months before he died that box set.

I think Roy, like Buddy Holly, was more popular over here then in the US of A

I'm sure my mam went to see him a few times at the Fiesta?, in St. Ockton

Was anyone else there when The Searchers appeared on Hartlepool Prom....I seem to remember down the Burn Road end in an arena boarded off with all sorts of scrap metal and second hand doors.

Needles and Pins..aaa was sung on the prom by Mike Pinder himself.

I've been away too long.

But yes I think it was on Seaton Prom at the Burn Road end rather than on the Headland. It was organised by the people who ran the Lantern Club in the Labour Club in Park Road.

Like Mr Bus I thought it was on the Headland. Even the reliable (?) Hartlepool Mail doesn't provide the definitive location!

Nah, it probably was in old Hartlepool then. No wonder I missed it.
The Toffees - I remember them!

The odd thing is, when he was having all his big hits in the sixties I didn't like him. Call me two faced.
I was too young to appreciate quality I guess.

It was definitely on the Headland. I was sat with my older sister on top of the wall of doors that made up the barrier on the Town Moor, until a couple of coppers with bloody big Alsations told us to get down.

Shows how your (mine I mean) memory plays tricks.

It was a dead clear sunny evening but the wind was freezing. I remember Mike Pinder looking nithered in his suit.

The Searchers also starred in the Big Beat Show of 1964, which was held on the Promenade, in Hartlepool, with local bands The Toffees and The Corantos in support.

surely that is enough evidence
hartlepool promenade can only mean 1 place
otherwise it would have said seaton

Well it was me who cast doubts in the first place but I soon conceded!
The Searchers are still going and still singing What Have They Done to the Rain (the song that caused Tony Jackson to leave).
AFAIR the only big sixties group to make it to lil' ol' Hartlepool.

Oh and Roy Orbison was grand.
