Well I guess mine is just a smart-arse mixture of Poolie and Montpellier when I used to live there.

I believe my first Internet nom-de-plume was Julius Sneezer, because the first forums I ever visited were history forums. That was followed by Mr J Caesar III, on the Beeb site when it used to have proper forums, and that carried over from history into footy.
Then IIRC I discovered Rivals (the ITN version, with a  to ptabp in passing), and since the Caesar thing was irrelevant to Pools I invented the name Montpoolier.
Other names I've gone by are Mike Nelson's Contract (a big talking point at the time!), SBF (surrounded by frogs), and perhaps one or two others, but never more than one at a time ... eh Smythe!

When Mutters started calling me Richard at the match last week I decided that it was a shite name and Montpellier, "monty", was my true-to-life persona. And no I'm not really called Monty, but I don't mind, TONY!

Does anyone remember people like Milhouse, Vic Park, Vicky Park, Duncan de Sordally, the Business!!!

Fair enough.

I got my name from the Damned album of the same name (dont know why I chose that album as it is only average) I should have called myself 'machine gun etiquette'.

Just altered my username, grave sounds better and given that im 'dead' funny it is more apt.

The last part of mine is a bit obvious really. I was a Town End regular.

The Jish part comes from my brother. My real name is Joe but he used to call me anything beginning with a J as he thought it was funny. I got Jeremy, Jeremiah, Jacob and Josh which eventually turned into Jish. This stuck and people have called me it ever since.

I'd prefer my username to be Jish instead of jishtownend, as I no longer stand in the Town End (CK stand regular now). If anyone with the power can be bothered, I would appreciate it!

Well,
our lass grandfather ( Patrick) was sent to Calais in 1940 and before he left he said to his missus ' don't worry about me I'll be alright if there is a hole in the ground I'll be in it, just think of me as 'DugoutPaddy'
He was captured, marched to Poland and remained POW for 5 yrs. He kept a brief diary which we found some years later and the writing was so small his missus couldn't read it ( he was long gone). So I set about deciphering it for her, which was very moving for both of us!
you can read what was left of it at http://www.dugoutpaddy.co.uk
a lot of pages had been torn out

so there you go

Ahh, the Jerry Cornelius books by Moorcock, especially 'A Cure for Cancer'. I also like his more recent stuff as well such as Mother London. I've met the great man a few times (with Hawkwind and Hawklords of course). I've got, but have still to read 'The Vengence of Rome', the final part of the Pyat quartet. It's even signed by him "For old times sake! The 'wind rules", one of my prized possesions.

I was Rik for a while, then Fat Blonde Marge - both on the Division Three Cheeseboard ( I used to like pretending to be a woman)
Then I went to Sunderland Uni in 2000 aged 30 and there was a lass there from Murton and when I told her where I was from she laughed and said "My husband calls it British West Hartlepool"
I just thought it was a great name and didnt realise any historical connections with The Likely Lads etc, and I'm from there...

My username, I think, speaks for itself.

Though according to a local medieval Kentish legend, every male born to the east of the River Medway, which runs through the Medway Towns of Rainham,Gillingham, Chatham, Rochester and Strood, is said to be a "Kentish Man", whilst every man born to the west of the River Medway, is said to be a "Man of Kent".

Taking this local legend into account, and by my personal logic that I have at least some 'Poolie blood in me as I am the son of a man born in Hartlepool, I originally joined the board a couple of years ago as "Kentish Poolie".

But, as I quickly realised that Gillingham, where I live, is on the West Bank of the River Medway that flows into the Thames Estuary, as opposed to the East Bank, I amended my username to become...."Poolie of Kent!"

The username also has a double meaning in that I am a 'Poolie, a fan of Hartlepool United, who has just started studying at the University of Kent...so in that regard, I am a Poolie of Kent (Uni).
