It also means home fans can be charged different amounts.

But would this not possibly increase income.

For example a Pools non season ticket holder (CK Stand) attends all home league games this season

So 23 games at £20 per game he would have contributed £460 to Pools'

Now let's say Pools had categorised their games this season into Category A/B and C

The category A games could have been Leeds, Leicester,Colchester,Scunthorpe (all just relegated ) Carlisle( localish game) and Huddersfield, they just examples.

Category C games could have been Orient, Swindon,Yeovil,Brighton,Cheltenham,Hereford, all longish journeys for the away fan.

Category B would be the remainder 11 fixtures.

Now for Category A games the seats cost £30. For category B £20 and Category C £10.

Now we take the same Pools fan(CK Stand) and he attends all games again, his outlay is still £460.

Would we make more money, from the bigger clubs following, to allow us to charge a lower amount against the so called smaller teams. Maybe attracting more away fans to come ,if we let their team sell tickets at lower price at their place. We hopefully would also attract more Poolies to the category C games.

There are stumbling blocks, for example, if we had 2 category A home games back to back (Sat/Tues), would that mean some fans who would attend at £20 both games may only come to one.

I always believed games should be same price no matter who the opposition, but we had it done to us twice in recent seasons (who would have believed Pools would be a category A
game), but my opinion is now slightly wavering.

For example 972 Leeds fans would increase income by £9720,if we say of the 6 so called category A games brought us an extra £7500 (on average) thats almost £50,000. Not a lot but extra income. Added to hopefully extra away fans and Poolies at Category C games would we not be better off.

The standing prices would have to be adjusted accordingly,along with season ticket prices.

Just a thought.

Understand the thought and more intelligent people than me will have better answers - but no way can you charge twenty quid difference to watch a match (Cat A to Cat C). A tenner difference would be too much in my opinion.
Cat A games could only include a couple of teams, people wouldnt pay extra to watch Scunny. In fact, lots wouldnt pay extra to watch Leeds or Carlisle. And I'm not sure charging a tenner would increase the gates by enough to make it worthwhile. Certainly wouldnt double them.

how about doing it for the away fans only? and then occasionally for the crap games the games that have the least interest do a kid for a quid, the extra money from the away fans would cover the money lost from the kid for a quid promotion.

the result: more kids coming to matches, which means more potential supporters as they grow older

The figures I used are probably to high, I was using them as an example to show that it was possible for the fan who attends every game not to actual pay more than he would.

It would work at £25, £20,and £15,(still a difference of £10) less than those amounts would mean less income from the fan who attended every game this season. Now I dont have a problem with that and would in fact welcome it, as long as the club made up the loss from the away fans.

The figures really are irrelevant , for the point, I was trying to make, and apologise for the long drawn out way I put it.

It's a good idea in theory, however I reckon there would only be 2 or 3 teams which people would pay extra to watch. You said Carlisle as an example for a catagory A team. This seasons' attendance against Carlisle was no higher than average of about 3,500. I reckon it'd only be Leeds and Charlton (if they come down) which people would be willing to pay extra to watch.

You could charge more for the away end, don't forget its all seats.

We do it because Ken wants to milk every penny he can. I still can not believe that you were cat A this season, and the only reason why is because of how many you brought last season, he thought it would be same again.
At least you only had to pay it the once, as a home fan without a season ticket I have had to pay £27 (which is the cheapest ticket at cat A)for playing Scunthorpe, Millwall (monday night on sky) and Peterborough recently. This because he knows that there's about 20k who will turn up regardless of the price or opposition.
Then if you want to go to away games you have to have a membership card just to apply which costs about £36 a season which gives you the right to apply for away games, the reason given to help stop trouble makers going away, yet when we didnt sell out Derby away in the cup, they decided you could go without a card for that game, a game with a lot higher risk of trouble than most away games in this league.

and now season ticket prices for next year compared to shef utd who could be in the prem next year...........

They're a sympathetic lot on here... especially to Dirty Leeds fans..

Toulouse sort of do this but it is more like top matches are full price (22 euros for the virage). These are nearly always sold out and the teams are OM, Lyons, PSG etc. Matches that wouldn't sell out like Valenciennes or St Etienne are half price but the crowds are still very low. Only got about 8,000 for a match where any seat was 10 euros. They do lots of kids for one euro matches and for valentines day you could bring a woman for one euro.

It is way cheaper than the same standard of football in England but none of it increases crowds much because loads of people here prefer rugby (Stade Toulousain are the Man Ure of egg chasing) and only go to football for big matches. So that doesn't help to decide if Pools should do it does it?

Letting kids in cheap for at least some matches definitely makes sense though.
