1) I don't take photos.

2) Anyway, why?

Gremmlin: wherever it is they don't seem to have any booze.
Now if you'd shown a waterfall I might have been able to hunt it down!!

Well, let me see: pebbly beach, not-so-high cliffs, what could perhaps be described as a kind of pit-yakker gloom - would it be Blackhall Rocks by any chance? The Michael Caine ones?

I thought andy's bay was Runswick too at first, but it can't be because there are houses right along the cliff tops there. Don't think it's Blackhall...I guess it's in the Marsden Rocks area

To be fair, one cliff looks pretty much like another, and a lot depends on your angle as well.

For example, that photo of Saltwick Bay doesn't show there's an offshore rock just round the corner.

Sinter plant
In order to enhance the productivity of blast furnaces, a high percentage of sinter charge is a prerequisite. Sinter is an agglomeration of iron ore fines, coke and limestone in the form of cakes. To ensure sinter burden in the blast furnaces at 75 per cent, a total of 3 million tonnes of sinter was envisaged for a production of about 2 million tonnes of hot metal. A technologically modern and fuel efficient sintering machine having 198 square metres sintering area has been added as part of the modernisation scheme to produce 1.7 million tonnes of sinter. The balance requirement will be met from the revamped old sinter plant.

Sinter mix, a mixture of fines of iron ore, limestone, coke, dolomite and flue dust, blended proportionally at the RMHC, is a prepared material which is self fluxing. In ignition strands it is burnt under controlled conditions to form a porous cake type substance called sinter, which used in blast furnaces enhances productivity and reduces coke rate.

Well Mr P, we've sorta had this photo before in a nostalgic photos thread, in fact, it's the wallpaper on my computer!
Though there's no proof, it's pretty certain the photo was taken from lower Windermere Road. I managed to examine an old map that supports this theory.

Gremms: Brenda Road is parallel to the werks not pointing at them!

By the way, "From that cooling tower I think it is ...."
I thought that might help.

sorry to disagree sir richard but that chimney you are looking on the left is i think the paper mill chimney
while i agree that Brenda road is parralell with the works i think that building in the left which looks like a pre fab is the site of the old steelworks test house
somewhere near to where Tones garage is now. I say it has to be taken from somewhere past the roundabout with Seaton Lane Brenda Road coming into the town
more research needed.

Look at the old OS map rather than relying on memory gremmly and you'll see. The iron and steel works are both indicated.
Windermere Road (just south of "LONGHILL" on the map) points directly between the steel plant (on the left/north) and the iron plant (on the right/south). It MIGHT be the parallel Thomlinson Road, but due to the angles I think it's more likely to be Windermere.

Image

The only way that chimney could be Durham Paper Mills is if the photo was taken in Burn Road, but Burn Road misses the blast furnaces by a mile.

Hope this helps.
