I've heard the news and I'm disappointed, of course. It was a very good series, not great, but still very good nonetheless. I'm annoyed in the fact that ITV wanted people to write in if they wanted to see a second series. I was going to write a quick note and put it in the letter box because I did think that despite its seemingly low ratings, it did have a quite a strong "fanbase" starting to develop on the Internet, that really did like the idea of something completely different on a Sunday compared to being stuck in a time warp in the gentil worlds of Heartbeat and Lark Rise to Candleford (great script but not very exciting), because I thought that a market was there for a second series, we know about the huge popularity of "High School Musical" whic could be bringing out a 4th film, and I think it could have actually been more successful if the writers took time to develop it more.

Having said that, I think the market with the HSM franchise is quite aturated with that sort of stuff and the High School Musical films the have been released have had bettwer more succesful songs and scripts than what Britannia High had.

It's quite a shame, considering the argument that the Sun's source has given saying that the show has fallen foul of the credit crunch/economic downturn etc.

On a personal note, this has happened to me a few times where I've watched shows that have only been given one series and then cancelled etc.

According to a article I read on the Guardian's website, apparantly it was very hard to tell who Britannia High was aimed for.

What can I say - I like "young" dramas. That's why I watched Skins. That was excellent and I'm looking forward to the new series starting this week.

But that's it, no more Britannia High, so from this moment on, it will not be mentioned.

POK: Please watch this. And the rest of you, if you've seen Charlie Brooker or not. Best interpretation of Britannia High. "'lovely lovely person' hive" is the best phrase ever.

His comedy is definitely an acquired taste I know that.

Funnily enough, I got a DVD of one of the Frost/Nixon interviews free with the Independent on Saturday.

You know, in Britannia High the characters are actually given a reason for suddenly bursting into song - their students at a performing arts college, it only comes natural.

In HSM, the characters just suddenly decide to burst into song in the school canteen.

I think that it's still only good that we should be encouraging young people to be performers to the extent that we should teach them as Britannia High tried to layout that hey, it's actually a tough industry and to get anywhere in it you have to work extremely hard and want it really bad - and that's good advice for wanting to do well in life etc.

Yeah I know what you mean ULS....when I was at Martyrs I would suddenly start shouting out quotes from 'Pride & Predjudice' whilst walking to Chemistry and I even use to recite 'Pythagoras' Theorem' round the back of the Gym when I was having a Tab!!!!
