To be blunt, it's nobody's business but my own why I watched the video and what I got from it. It's certainly not your business, nor that of the families.

Still, much as it annoys me to do so, here goes:
I've watched the fire video just once. It gave me an understanding of the horror that no text report could ever have done.
Yes, you could argue it's not important whether I understood the horror or not, but if that's the case why tell me about the fire in the first place. Just keep it a fookin secret.

Now, your turn. Tell me just what have you got against videos that make them unacceptable while graphic descriptions are OK, tell me why we should all accept what is your own personal, arrogant, and evidently minority opinion, tell me why the fook should we have to justify ourselves to you, and tell me just where you find the gall to insult us with claims of morbid curiosity?

Youre not justifying yourself to me - loads of people have come on here saying they have gained something from watching it yet no one has said what so that rather negates that argument and as has been mentioned umpteen times on the thread and the reason I requested the links removal

RESPECT for those that lost their lives their realatives or the survivors of the tradgedy - if your need or anyone elses need to watch it is greater than the wishes of those directly effected by it I'd be most surprised - it doesnt need any furhter justification than that in my book - if you're happy with that and being disrespectful to to those people then so be it

In the past we have had the Bradford Football Stand video as part of the training on our fire and anti-gas course at work, as a demonstration of how quickly a fire can get out of hand. They tend to use the video of the room catching fire under controlled circumstances these days
The Piper Alpha video gets used as part of Health and Safety training, as to how the failure of the permit to work system and people not following procedures can create a very bad situation. I don't think that has had the same censorship applied to it.

you're just being a bit of a cock now mate - everyone feels sorrow and respect for those who died in this inicident but they also have the right to watch and see what went on even if it is out of curiousity.

the talking of drivel by you has dragged this into a debate

if i want to watch it i will - no nameless anonymous goon prattling on on here is going to make me feel any different

i saw in 85 and i've seen it again since - never went looking for it - i came across it and watched it - as said back in one of the sensible posts in this thread by me - it meant many things to me

its about time that you stopped taking the piss out of other people and abusing their rights and respect their desire to remember this how they want without all your bollocks, pontification and just general one eyed shite.

sad get

thats what I like on here -some people that cant make a reasoned argument or disagree with someone elses view that they then have to start on the personal insults - now that really is sad

we all have opinions but you are trying to make out yours is the only valid one where is the reasoned debate in that.
why not accept some have a different opinion than yours and let it drop. banghead

I accept that people have differing opinions, as to saying he had no respect then if someone acknowledges the fact themselves, then for me to repeat that is hardly insulting - I made people aware of the wishes of those directly involved from the outset when I asked for the link to be removed - but then people well aware of those wishes blatently disrespect them by saying I watched it to learn from it or out of curiosity then were obviously quite happy to be disrespectful to satisfy their own needs - thats up to them but must admit I am most surprised by the attitudes of a lot of people on here regarding this matter.

I wont be commenting further on the subject
