this means we are seriously 6 or 7 players short of what is required. We NEED a keeper and at least one probably 2 defender(s). we need a defensive midfielder and a right winger. and we need at least one decent striker, possibly two.

We are right in the shit

We can only scatter if there contracts are up, and do we know whose contracts are up?

Otherwise we need to pay them off, can be expensive.

Or sell them, give them away....

If you Gents could explain something for me?
I dont get to the games these days alas but, reading the bunker and pools world etc etc, im suprised that Nelson is on your keep list, i sorta got the impression he was a liability, he (and the rest of the defence where getting a whole lotta stick not so long ago) i would appreciate your reasoning ! i sound like a wind up probably but its a genuine question !!
and an edit! it does seem that Boyd would be a welcome return and yet Miller for example not wanted because (quote) bringing back ex players doesnt work etc etc.... sctatchinghead
I do get confused ! but not seeing pools for a long time im sorta trying to get the picture............................. :uhoh: and ive had a few

i concur, those 2 signings would also get a bit of buzz going amongst the fans, if only we could get them though

I think it's simply a case of having the right partner alongside him, Nelson/Westwood or Nelson/Clark is a very good partnership and brings out the very best in him. Also having a competent keeper behind him helps

i dont think we are " right in the shiit" but i think we definitely do need to make adjustments.

we certainly need to tighten up the defence, and this could be done on a temporary basis by bringing dimi back. he wants to play for us and pools need him.

id then go with a back 4 of liddle clark nelson and humps.

the midfield is horribly unbalanced. jones is not and never will be effective playing on the right of midfield.

personally i would go with robson sweeney jones and try monky on the right where he played in the past.

up front we need someone in to complement porter. the obvious solution would be to sign boyd from orient if he would be prepared to come back. he is still scoring goals in a bad side, and has a proven relationship with porter that wouldnt need a bedding in period.

i think that side would get us through to the end of the season and keep us out of the relegation zone. at that point we could begin the clearout.

in essence, 2 cheapish signings, which would be funded by barker and kyles departures and us being able to offload one other player..

You can't get away with posting something as sensible as that chip, I think we should release everyone like Mister B says, we'll stay up with ten players in our squad no problem!

A club of our size cannot get rid of that many players, we are half way up League One not bottom of the fourth division. We just need the right manager a few quality additions and the correct balance.

i know yesterdays defeat was depressing, and believe me those who didnt go, so was the defeat at scunny, but we are really not that bad.

the problem at the moment is that there is very little balance in the squad. we have 10 players that can play centre midfield ( and that mr parry is the sole objection people have with signing tommy miller, he plays in a position we have too many options at already, and not in one where we are in crisis ) and very few that can play full back or centre forward to anything like a reasonable level.

the problem, as i see it, is that we have good players who are playing below their best e.g. monkhouse, collins, liddle, and too many players playing out of position.

we need to get players playing in roles where they feel comfortable e.g clark at centre half, jones in centre mid, and we need a manager that can restore confidence to those whose form has dipped.

we need to get some balance in the side with players partnering others who complement them.

we dont need a huge target man when we have no wingers, we need a mobile forward in the mould of boyd to complement porter, and we need to pass the ball on the floor as we tried to do in the first half yesterday.

Thanks chip, i take your point about miller, but i would love to see him back, anyway ill get to see one game in january, ALB will save a penalty, foley will get a hat trick and ill wonder what the fook your all on about

Well if Mr Hodcroft is a good listener he better get some Otex, clear his lugs and listen VERY carefully....

To have ANY sort of success in Football, you need a solid defence.

Dimitrious Konstantopolous would be the PERFECT signing to start the rebuilding process. If you signed him, the fans would start believing again and would start coming back through the gates aka MORE MONEY

Come on Uncle Ken, you KNOW it makes sense clappp
