"In the first half we created a few chances and I thought we were the better team"

"We were 2-0 down at half time and I don't know how."

"They scored a wonderful second goal, but we need to be harder to break down"

"In the end, we didn't take our chances and got punished."

"Adam was sent off for nothing and when you are 2-0 down and down to 10 men it is a massive uphill struggle"

"We are simply too nice at the moment"

Too nice eh?

If Tilson thinks that wasn't a red card then he's an idiot. The thing is even if it wasn't a straight red the lad had already been booked it was a clear tug the only issue was whether he was the last man, and he quite clearly was.

Opposition managers can say what the hell they like - it's their divine right.
As for our manager, he has to make do with collecting the points.

no but it was definitely at least a booking, and as he had already been booked - ergo he had to be sent off!!!!!

The only person who I thought deserved a yellow was our favourite Aussie

Mickey Barron (on Pools World last night) thought it was a harsh red card but thought it was a possible yellow and as Parmo said, as the player already had a yellow he'd have been off.

I said to our young 'un after the booking that lad is asking to be sent off and sure enough. I wouldn't have given him a straight red for the foul he got sent off for though. It still would have been a second yellow, so same outcome. Southend were all over the place when he went off and we really should have pressed for more goals.

A commanding performance from us though, we were the better team throughout, their manager obviously not looking at it impartially, unlike me

He was the last man and dragged Porter back.....red card was the only outcome. Porter did what he does so well and got his body between the man and the ball.

What I loved was the way Hartlepools favourite Antipodean just laughed at Barrett when he confronted him, Joel when he's playing like he was last is far too good for cloggers like him and he knew it!!

I haven't seen the replay yet but he looked like was pulled back and was last man.

I'll reserve judgement until I see the replay but I expect to see what I saw.

From our view about level with the incident in the Cyril Knowles it looked a clear sending off, Barratt was struggling to keep up with Joel and put his arm out and pulled him down when he was the last man, it was a clear tug (which you can't really see from the TV replay). It was certainly a second yellow, and probably a red as he'd have been clean through.

The reason you can't see it on the TV replay is that it never happened!

It did I tell you!

Joel actually tried to stay on his feet the pull on his shirt was a little bit before he actually went down on his knees.

It was definitely a foul, why would Joel give up a one on one and a near certain goal to risk getting booked for a dive?

Good point but I just can't see this supposed tug. I'll watch it again later and I'll confirm on here again that I'm right.

Seen it again. There was contact but it was minimal. Very very harsh sending off.
