It's a very competitive field. Realistically about siix out of the 10 could win, judging by the cheers Adlington, Hoy and Ainslie are quite popular.

I think Lewis will have a lot of support in one of the most competitive SP's in years.

Anyone except the CHEATING DRUG TAKING Ohruogu.

That will send out all the wrong messages to kids, who will then think hey lets take drugs cheat and win then get another award for it.

Anyone who voted for her to win the sports personality of the year ( though I agree with gravedisorder there no personalities anymore) Should be reminded that they voted for a DRUG TAKING CHEAT, I REPEAT A DRUG TAKING CHEAT. Should been banned for life.

You could argue a gold medal was sufficient compensation to the country for her crime. And technically all she did was miss a test accidentally. I don't think there was any proof that she took any performance enhancing drugs.

Know the BIG names but who are the rest.Would like to see one of the lesser lights win sometimes if it was for personality only.

If Hamilton wins then I give up my final remaining modicum of respect for the competition. Lewis Hamilton has been spoon fed the world title. He was driving the fastest car by some way and still tried hard to blow it. If it has to be F1 then give me a Mansell or a Shumacher who did it in a slower car.

Edlington all the way for me.

All she did was miss a "test accidently" your words.

What she did was miss not one not two but THREE drug tests.

Where they all accidental. I think not.

Alas, unless your suspicions are correct, we shall never know whether she did take drugs.

You may have to admit that it's all in the past now. Especially after she's won gold for us.

It will be justified if she doen't win this.

Jesus POK, that is the most naive thing you've ever said. None of these people win a gold medal 'for us' they do it for themselves and their future earnings.

She was a member of Team GB, the official Olympic representative team of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland - you can't compete in something like the Olympics an not want to do it for your country and to want to inspire other people etc.

That's why you should do it, not for fame or money.

She might well have been a member of the team but i'm talking about the motivation both at the time an future. Neither of which includes you or me.

I believe Rebecca Adlington is sincere enough as a person to have wanted to do it for the right reasons.

Don't you find it funny that we finished 4th in the medals, highest since 1908, in this very year that seems so ordinary, when in fact we know this year was the last Olympics before it comes to us in 2012.

I watched the British flag being hoisted at the Closing ceremony in Beijing and thought that maybe the BOA had wanted to try to pull off the best results they wanted to do and sent a the strongest ever gone to an Olympics this year because they wanted represent their country with honour and inspire as many people as possible to take up sport that by 2012 we can go one step further and have the best Olympics at home something a la China.

And also sometimes we slag off this country a lot but I believe that this is a great country, it proves it. They didn't want to show how great our country was as a point of political, colonial power over the rest of the world...I hope they did it to help us to have pride in our own great country.

They did well, no question. Adlinton et al worked incessantly to achieve what they have, but here's the rub; they did it for themselves.

Well, if that's true, then that's totally the wrong reasosn to be representing GB at the Olympic Games - the Greatest Show on Earth.

Honestly mate, I've defended your positions but you're being naive to the point of idiocy. Welcome to the world, iIts all about money. Take your pick; Olympics, football, going to school, being in the IRA, even Jeff Stelling getting up to go to Sky Sports. It's not because he loves to show off his James Brown doll or because of Hartlepool United, its because he, like all the others, get paid for it.

I just found something i agree with Mr I on.

That is so naive it beggars belief.

Ohurougu won gold for herself. Proof if proof was needed comes from the fact she stated

She would leave Great Britain and COMPETE for another COUNTRY at the OLYMPICS if her appeal against being banned was UNSUCCESSFUL.

ANOTHER REASON SHE SHOULDN'T WIN IT.

do you think she won gold for Team Gb now. ????????????????

It's a great song from a great period of the 90s, though.
