I hate wasting time being lost - so I have relented and I've got the satnav inthe car ready for when I get to a strange town.I also won't hesitate to stop and ask if I think I'm not in the right area (or even just to confirm that I am in the right area)

When I was a teenager (not that long ago) we used to walk to Pools down Hart Lane and would often be asked directions by away fans. We were nice though and gave them perfect directions, absolutely spot on directions on how to get to Brierton Lane. We even told them that the floodlights weren't very high and sometimes embellished by telling them that the rugby team played in the town centre if they were in sight of the Vic floodlights.

nowt better than turning up in a new town and looking for floodlights and ending up at docks, rugby grounds and steelworks.

The Vic must be one of the easiest grounds in the league to get to for away fans. It's dead well signposted, very close to the town centre, you can see the floodlights from miles away, and there's plenty of parking.

I'm one of those people who plods on regardless. I take being lost as a personal insult. I always find me way in the end but sometimes it's a heavy investment!

Driving back into town in the late 80's, our lass said a car full of blokes was following us, so rather than go straight into town, I turned up Truro, went along Catcote and down Rossmere Way, back onto Stockton Road ... we were being followed. i took a long winded route from the travellers and ended up at the side of Cuthies school, the car pulled up behind...and fook knows why, I got out and walked towards the car...the driver wound his window down, pointed down Leamington Parade to the side of the old Bee Line garage and said is that the ground?.. Turns out they were York fans going to the match and had followed me from the A19 because my car had a York registration plate ...phew! Then I pointed them in the wrong direction.
