The League Managers Association five-man Performance of the Week panel, comprising Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, were in agreement that this week, the F&C Investments Performance of the Week Award should go to Hartlepool United following their excellent 3-2 away win at Walsall, in Coca-Cola Football League One on Saturday 18th October 2008.

Manager Danny Wilson will receive a specially engraved crystal football in a presentation to be screened on Sky football Saturday on 25th October 2008.

Thrilling second half performance saw Hartlepool fight back from two goals down to beat Walsall. Walsall went 2-0 in front inside 13 minutes with a Michael Ricketts header before Jabo Ibehre met Troy Deeney's cross for the second.

Antony Sweeney pulled one back for Pools on 18 minutes from time and four minutes later Matty Robson equalised with a spectacular strike from 25 yards.

The comeback was complete when James Brown headed the winner from Sweeney's cross with six minutes left.

After the match, Hartlepool manager Danny Wilson was delighted with the result and the way his side comeback from two-down; "There has never been any question about the character in the side."

Wilson also singled out the quality of his side's goals; "Walsall had one chance in the second half which might have put the game beyond us, but all three of our goals were absolutely tremendous. It was too easy for Walsall in the first half, but a different story in the second."

Brilliant news.

If we can win an award for seemingly doing naff all whilst winning, think of what we could win when we really play well.

Whether's it's deserved or not is a different matter. The very definition of the phrase "comeback" means "to come from absolutely nowhere to succeed", that's what we did on Saturday, despite the first 70 minutes not being a contest and we've won an award.
